Day 17 - Favorite yaoi website.
Well, can I say it’s livejournal for yaoi manga?
Seriously, this is the place where I mostly get my yaoi fix. Before, I used to go to mangafox, manga animea, and mangatraders but now, it’s through LJ since most scan groups are here, too.
I usually go to mangaupdates for info on a particular manga and to read reviews. I don’t rely much on them (I mean, whether I want to read it or not) except when majority of the reviewers tell if a certain manga is good or if it sucks. I have read in some post here on LJ that it’s not as updated as it was before. I forgot what group discussion I was reading when I came across that comment but according to the poster, some scan groups do not want it known there what they are working on. The poster went on to cite some examples wherein some mangas had already new chapters out but you wouldn’t know if you were relying only on mangaupdates.
I remember when I still a yaoi newbie, I would go to mangafox or manga animea and scroll through the mangas there and pick according to the art. I didn’t download often, especially if it’s not a favorite and if I can read it online. I have this fear that my computer would crash and my uncle or cousin (who usually repairs my computer) would come across my yaoi stash and I’d get disowned. My mother is only slightly tolerant and we’ve had fights because I find her remarks offensive sometimes.
Anyway. Before, I would totally disregard the summary and base my choice on the faces of the characters. I would go for really handsome or cute guys until I learned my lesson that the story inside is not necessarily as good as the cover art. I remember reading some manga where I found my eyes were certainly pleased but my brain was going, “Huh?”
