[Background]
The early years of Blood Dupre’s life are, currently, shrouded in mystery. The first thing we learn about Blood is that he is head of the mafia, and one of the four rulers of the “Land of Hearts”. Somehow, during that time of reigning, Blood acquired an extended family: Elliot March and the Bloody Twins. Elliot March, who is also Blood’s right-hand man, came into Blood’s care when his “clock” was broken (read: heart destroyed, also known as dead). His heart was to be restarted ( which will be explained later). Blood became the young man (rabbit)’s benefactor, and in result, grew steadily attached to the eccentric, gun-loving man.
Blood’s castle is guarded by the other “branch” of his family: The Bloody Twins. The Bloody Twins, Dee and Dum, according to Elliot, do not do that well of a job at guarding the castle, but it’s logical that Blood turns a blind eye to their mishaps, only for the sake of keeping them around. His true involvement with them is still unknown, and whether it is for personal gain or not is still in question.
Before Alice shows up one /fine/ day to turn this “Wonderland” upside down, it is revealed that Alice is the first “foreigner” that Blood has ever interacted with. Whether this is valid or not is questionable, as are most the things Blood says. Before Blood can meet up with this newcomer, Alice encounters Peter White-an unconventional attendant and bovle of the neighboring area. In fact, Peter White is the reason why Alice ends up in this world in the first place. Long story short, Peter forces Alice to drink a liquid (via a kiss), which requires her to stay in this world until she can “complete the game”. Peter forces himself upon Alice with words of devotion, gushing love out of his ears and hands. Regardless of Peter’s unrequited love, Alice is stuck here to “play the game”.
This game is constantly being played. To the residents of the world, the roles are the most important. Expectedly, Blood, Vivaldi, Julius, and “Mary” Gowland have the most important roles. Alice is told that she cannot leave until the vial Peter gives her is filled. She can only achieve this by meeting new people ( and consequently having them fall in love with her, oh boy ).
Blood and Alice meet briefly at the beginning of her stay in this obscure Wonderland. While the Bloody Twins are berating her, and Elliot is threatening to test his new gun out on her, Blood appears, abruptly ending all murderous thoughts. He reprimands the others for thinking of such things, and begins to apologize, oh so politely, to Alice, but she takes off running. The fact that Alice is a foreigner is commented upon, and with a sparkle in his eye, a smirk, and a remark of, “Very interesting”, Blood decides that Alice is worth further investigating upon.
When Alice finally encounters Blood and Elliot in the forest for the second time (for a conversation longer than a minute) she instantly likens the head of the mafia to her ex-boyfriend. She doesn’t say this outright, but Blood can tell by the way that she looks at him that he reminds her of someone precious. Alice and Blood exchange a few interesting words (most of which are twisted and only vaguely sweet words of attraction ) and Blood takes his leave, like the gentleman he is.
A little later on, Alice learns of “Mary Gowland”, the owner of the Amusement Park, from the mischievous Boris (Cheshire Cat). Boris tells Alice that “the old man is embarrassed by it and tries to keep it hidden”. He also explains that his boss, namely Blood, spread the name “like wildfire” around the Kingdom, just to upset Mary. Alice, finding the name humorous as well, commits it to memory, whether consciously or not.
Time passes and Alice (with the Bloody Twins and Boris) meets Gowland. Gowland, elated that he is finally able to meet the foreigner, decides to serenade her with his violin. Of course, his playing is atrocious, and in order to stop the man, Alice shouts out his real name. Gowland freaks out, swearing that the next time he sees Blood, he will kill the man for spreading his name around. Ironically enough, Blood and Elliot show up. Alice questions if they’re “here to play” and Blood and Elliot all but avert their eyes and cough, saying “of course not!” and that they’re here on business. Gowland spots Blood when he finally stops yelling. This soon results in an intense shooting match between Elliot and Mary. Blood continues patronizing Mary, constantly referring back to his real name. “Mary” this, “Mary” that. More shouting and shooting ensues, as well as hilarity. Before things can become too heated, Blood whisks Alice away, whispering “Run” to her before Mary can get too out of control.
Once alone, the two begin conversing about Blood’s aversion to annoying situations and boredom. They then discuss tea, specially black tea, and Alice thinks how strange Blood is. When Alice mentions Vivaldi, Blood goes uncharacteristically quiet. He hides his eyes with a tip of his head, and Alice wonders if he is okay. Instead of being straightforward, Blood invites Alice to a tea party at his mansion. Of course, Blood just wants to outdo Vivaldi. When Blood finally convinces Alice into going, he departs with Elliot back to the mansion ( after he hears that Gowland is already gone, oh well~ No business today).
The last part of canon that Blood will be familiar with will be the promised Midnight Tea Party he shares with Alice. Blood cockily claims that, because it’s his tea party, he can have it at whatever time he wants to. Ellliot attempts to defend his bosses claims saying that “twelve” am and pm are just the same, and Blood likens the man to Peter White. Of course, that really upsets Elliot, who despises Peter with every fiber of his being. The tea party commences, and Blood ends up offering his books to Alice to read whenever she wishes to. His demeanor seems to change throughout the tea party when he realizes Elliot has grown attached to Alice: He seems stiffer and far more indifferent.
Later in the story, Alice discovers the direction challenge Ace’s secret which sheds light on the darker, true workings of the world. Ace, who works for Julius at the clock tower, aids in the retrieval of clocks to which he and Julius “repair”. This involves resetting them, which completely wipes away a person’s previous life, emotion, and so on and so forth. Alice finally realizes how warped this world is. She finally realizes what was meant when it was said that, “Death does not matter here.” The shadowy figures she saw earlier are Afterimages, which are the leftovers of people who were yet to be “reset”. One of Ace’s more gruesome jobs is to kill them, which explains why he is seen with a bloody cloak at Julius’ place.
The topic of “clock resetting” brings about another ironic tidbit that’s revealed later in canon. Lo and Behold, Blood had rescued Elliot mainly for the purpose of keeping him from getting his clock restarted. Blood made a promise to Elliot that he would make sure his clock was not restarted, and that he instead died when that time came. This is probably the most “untwisted” thing we will ever see from Blood. Whether he did this out of actual emotion and sympathy, or for ulterior motives, it is still unknown. Regardless, Elliot is important to him, but whether or not he’s actually just a disposable pawn. Blood’s confusing like that.
Regardless, Blood will be taken after the Midnight Tea Party.
[Personality]
Blood Dupre is an enigma.
His outward appearance is one of strength, presence, and darkness. As head of the Mafia, his hands are inevitably stained with blood, corruption, and deceit. Instead of allowing that darkness to dominate his persona, Blood presents himself to others in a different light.
Blood is both charming and eloquent. He addresses situations with a brilliant smile, a sharp tongue, and unchallengeable wit. He uses his knowledge to his advantage and has a knack for reading people. He uses what he knows, such as Gowland’s first name, as leverage to either get what he wants, or irritate people. When he’s not rubbing people the wrong way, he’s quite the talker. Despite his flirtatious and prim and proper ways, he is nothing far from powerful.
Blood rules over his part of the Kingdom with power and seriousness. He is extremely possessive of what he has, and despises “annoying” or “boring” situations. He’s a cross between ‘All business’ and ‘all pleasure’. One could say that, even though he knows when to separate the two, he instead enjoys meshing them together. Although he is a strict and powerful man, he is anything but cruel. Even if he does jest and can grow to be sarcastic and grating, he does not outwardly show cruelty. He has taken both Elliot and the Blood Twins in, for whatever reasons. It may be for personal gain, or it may just be because of a small grain of kindness, but that’s still up for discussion. Even though Blood has shown “kindness”, he is still somewhat abusive and has a violent-streak.
However, when the head of the mafia does get upset, he shows no mercy. He’s merciless, persistent, diligent, and determined to get what he wants at any cost. In fact, he has no qualms about promising death to those that “bore” him or “cross him”. He tells Elliot that once Alice begins to bore him, he will have her killed. He also has a strong abhorrence for Julius (the head of the clock tower), mostly because he has become a father-figure to Alice and watches over him. Blood, obviously, is possessive of Alice, this new foreigner, and would not think twice about killing Julius in order to obtain her.
When Blood isn’t tormenting people with their first names, promising “eloquent deaths”, or trying to seduce Alice, he’s reading or drinking tea. He’s an intellectual through and through, and just because he’s head of a mafia doesn’t mean he isn’t refined. He loves Black Tea. Alice seems to bring out a different side of Blood that is conscious of what he says, and who he is, but the depths of that change is extremely blurred.
[Specialties/Abilities]
Well, he’s head of the mafia, so he’s obviously a smart and convincing man. His hat can turn into a gun, so that’s probably an ability, too. He’s good with words and people, and has a powerful presence to him, but apart from that, he’s your typical man.
[Affection] If you're not Alice, you're not getting anything ♥ But uh, if he's close to you, he may give some rough-affection, but don't expect much.
[Fighting] Yeah well I don't even know. His hat can turn into a gun. BAM. If you want to fight, just contact me first, yeah. ♥ Just no killing without my approval.
[Other Facts] --He’s the Hatter in all the crazy reference to Alice in Wonderland, so he’s probably really messed up beneath all that fake charm and whatnot
-- He likes to read
-- Uh, don’t mention Alice ; he’s possessive of her.
-- Don’t get on his bad-side, yeahhh.
