"You Are the World" (An Open Letter by Don Gerz)

Dear Friends,
I just returned from Starbucks. All the baristas are fine. They all have positive attitudes. Kim is handling the drive-through, Wendy is as nice as ever, and Yvette is proud to be running the best coffee shop in the world. Yvette knows her coffee shop is the best in the world because I tell her it's the best in the world. She and her baristas are the world. You are the world!
The first birds of the day are still resolutely chirping. They always start in at around 6:15 every morning. The birds are good. The coffee is good. All is good. He, she, and it are good. You are good. Smile for change and change this world!
Change this world with your smile. Life is transformative, and you are life. Transform yourself and in so doing, transform the world. Transform the world and in doing so, transform yourself. It goes on and on. Life. You. Me. The Birds. The Baristas. Everything and everyone.
All is good. All is beautiful. All is positive. I am optimistic. I'm not filled with gloom and doom. I will make a positive difference in myself and therefore in the world right here and NOW. I will traverse the universe's infrastructure with confidence, optimism, and happiness. I just did it!
I create happiness. You create happiness. We all (especially the birds) create happiness. Happiness does not just magically happen in and of itself. Happiness must be created. You are creative, so create your own happiness, the world's happiness.
The world is counting on you. Don't let it and yourself down. Create happiness with a consciously optimistic thought regardless of how you feel.
Always remember, "You are the world!"
