oneshot, “The Green Balloon”

Dec 28, 2009 00:02

Title; The Green Balloon
Fandom/Pairing; Taecyeon/Tiffany
Rating; G
Summary; Taecyeon sees a girl he likes, and it's his birthday, so she should say yes to him.
Author's Note; This is for Taec's birthday! I hope it's actually good. I really like it. You have to guess who the third character is, because saying his name really wouldn't have given it the same effect. Well, you don't have to guess. He's just there for a few seconds, anyway. Enjoy & happy birthday, Taec! I adore that guy, yes I do <3
Word Count; 495

I want her to want me.

Taecyeon watches the pink and blue and yellow balloons fly behind her as she skips. He watches the children gathering around her and taking the small white ribbons attached and running off to show their moms and dads. Then he watches as the balloons clear from the girls’ face and he’s pretty sure he’s seen an angel.

Please, let her want me back.

Tiffany notices that someone’s staring at her, but she has to keep her eyes on the balloons tied to her wrist, even if they are tied to insure they wouldn’t be stolen in the first place. It isn’t until the tiny crowd of children clears up a little bit that she looks around for the eyes she can feel are peering at her. They aren’t just staring-they’re observing and piercing her thoughts.

She’s perfect.

Taecyeon walks off as her head begins to turn in his direction. He needs to bring something to her, but he doesn’t know what. He doesn’t know what until he sees another cluster of balloons, though smaller, and not getting as much attention.

“Hi,” Taecyeon says as he approaches this other cluster. Behind it is a young boy, sitting on the park bench. “Can I have one of those?”

The boy pushes some of his obviously dyed blonde hair from his face and looks up at him. “Sure. What color? Purple? Red? Green? Wh-”

“Green.”

“Here,” he skillfully unties the ribbon from his wrist with one hand and hands it to Taecyeon.

“Thanks,” says Taec with a smile as he steps away, but then turning back. “You don’t happen to have a pen, do you?”

The boy shrugs and digs his hand into his pocket. “A pink marker work for you?”

Taecyeon doesn’t think to ask why this boy has a pink marker in his pocket and just takes it, scribbling something on the green surface of the balloon.

“Thanks.”

He spins around and hurries to get back to the balloon girl.

Tiffany feels those eyes on her again and struggles to not turn around, even when a shadow casts over her back. It’s not in a threatening way, though, or in any way that intimidates her. The children in front of her whisper ‘oohs’ in fascination as she turns around and faces the man behind her.

Taecyeon hands the green balloon in his hand to her, and Tiffany can tell that something is written on it.

“For you,” he says.

Tiffany’s eyes widen as she gladly accepts. She likes his smile way too much to say no. Taking the balloon itself, she turns it until she can see the words.

I like you, it says, although the light pink on green is difficult to adjust to at first.

“I think we should try going out,” he speaks again, almost startling her.

Tiffany looks back at his smile.

“You should say yes,” he prompts her. “Because it’s my birthday.”

Tiffany smiles.

“Okay.”
