Title; The Star She Spins
Fandom/Pairing; Lee “Onew” Jinki/ofc
Rating; G
Summary; Any other day, Lee Jinki would’ve prayed to feel some sort of love other than a fondness emitting from the girl next to him.
Author's Note; This is for Onew's birthday. I had almost no ideas until I went into a Panic! At the Disco relapse and pretty much overdosed on their music like I used to. So, I just sat and listened to these lyrics that I love, and a birthday piece for Dubu appeared. It's bittersweet and I like it. I hope you do, too. Happy birthday, Jinki-oppa! Whatever he does, it's the Onew Condition. He's so special. I love him.

Any other day, Lee Jinki would’ve prayed to feel some sort of love other than a fondness emitting from the girl next to him. The one he called his. The one who called him hers.

But it seemed that they were at a loss for that complete fulfilling connection between the two of them. Jinki wished that they could find it. He did pray for it, even if he wasn’t particularly religious. He would try anything he could to find it.

She always seemed to be spinning him around on her finger, making him wish he could really have her, but never letting him. It was like the way she reached up at night and pretended that she could spin the stars with her fingertips. They were always out of reach, but it seemed like the stars wanted to come to her more than she wanted to be with the stars.

And so, Jinki felt like one of those stars.

But it wasn’t only because of that. It was because every time they looked into each other’s eyes, he felt like he was seeing right through her skull, her mind, into whatever was behind her. Her eyes were distant.

Distant, yet so brilliant. He felt like he could see to infinity. It was like looking into the sky.

Still, it didn’t make him happy.

But, one morning-one special morning-Jinki rolled over in their bed, and as soon as he did, his eyes traveled over her form. As hers opened, they caught his attention immediately.

Because there was something different. A sparkle that had never been floating around in her irises since the first few days of their relationship. The sparkle he missed.

Jinki’s heart leapt at the sight of it.

Maybe it was just this one day. Maybe tomorrow it’d be back to that distant look.

Even so, Jinki was just happy to see the love dancing in her eyes. He was just happy to have a sense of comfort in feeling her love for him swell, despite the fact that it might shrink down again when the clock stuck midnight. When the carriage turned back into a pumpkin, or whatever.

Well, if that was going to happen, at least he had this moment.

Smiles flickered in her brown orbs as she looked into his.

“Happy birthday, Jinki.”
