A/N: It's been a long time since I've written het fics, and without smut at that. I just really love Changseo and this song fits Seohyun so well.
Even when I close my eyes, I can see.
Even when I am far away, I know.
How beautiful of a person she is.
“Joohyun-ah.” Changmin speaks slowly into the phone. It’s 3 in the morning, and he can’t sleep.
“Yes oppa?” The mere sound of her voice soothes him, he thinks that nothing is more serene than the sound of her voice.
“Have you finished the photoshoot?” The only sound Changmin can hear, is the bustling of crews in the background, and people shouting and instructing. In his room, it’s silent.
“No, not yet, maybe at 4 o clock, but I’m not sure. Shouldn’t you be asleep now?” Changmin smiles, imagining her worried face.
“Yes I should, but I can’t. You sound tired…” Changmin can’t help but worry himself, while he’s in the comfort of his own dorm, Seohyun is probably inches in makeup, and absurd costumes.
“It’s okay oppa, don’t worry, you, on the other hand, should go to sleep now.” Seohyun laughs on the other line, and Changmin has his eyes closed. He can see her, tired but still vibrant, exhausted but satisfied. He can see her laughing and the way her eyes crinkle at the side, the way she worries and her brows furrow just a little bit.
“Joohyun-ah?”
“Yes oppa?” He wants to freely tell her how he feels, just how much he loves her, how much he thinks of her.
“Goodnight.”
She laughs again, probably shaking her head.
“Goodnight Minnie~”
I don’t want to let go of her hands.
It feels as if we’ll shatter.
How delicate of a person she is.
Changmin stands at the back, as SNSD is about to go up stage. As they prepare their mics, Changmin turns Seohyun facing him, and held her hands. His heart is racing, he doesn’t know why, and he’s feeling impulsive.
“Good luck up there okay?” Seohyun nods and smiles, giving Changmin’s hands a light squeeze.
She turns but he’s not letting go.
“What’s wrong?” Her brows furrow again, and it takes all of his power to not just hug her tight in front of the staff.
“Nothing, it’s just…” His words are caught in his throat, and she’s just looking at him with those eyes, those innocent yet worried eyes. She’s so breathtaking and it’s overwhelming him.
“You look beautiful.” Changmin mentally slaps himself, then releases his breath. Seohyun laughs and squeezes his hands in reassurance. “Make me proud okay?”
She nods then lets go of his hands.
He can’t help but want to hold on and protect her forever.
The person who is laughing amongst those people
That angel is my lady.
“Changmin if you stare at her like that, her dress will burn.” Yunho pats Changmin lightly on his shoulders. The SMTown after party was crowded, people dancing, drinking, but Changmin can only see one person.
“She’s pretty isn’t she?” Changmin asks his hyung, a soft smile on his face.
Yunho looks at the girl mentioned. Her hair naturally down, soft curls framing her face, her eyes are shimmering as she talks to Boa. She laughs, cupping her mouth with her hands.
“Yes, she is.” Yunho pats Changmin’s back again.
Changmin smiles, like a goof, knowing that she’s his.
I feel childishly proud
My expression becomes like an idiot
Please laugh only with me, oh SHE~ SHE~
I want to be your last.
You’re my heaven.
Only one in the world, oh SHE~ SHE~
The night stretches long, and Changmin is going around, greeting, talking, laughing, but it feels like a drag, when all he wants to do is talk to Seohyun, all night long.
He takes short glimpses, seeing when she’s free of those exo boys, her members and the endless people that want to talk to her. When she’s sitting on a couch, alone, watching Yunho and Boa have a dance battle, Changmin slowly slips away from the crowd he was talking with, and sits next to her.
“Oh hi oppa, I haven’t seen you all night.” She greets, still politely.
“Well you’ve been busy talking to everyone else except me.” Changmin pouts, he’s quite jealous, but he knows he can’t have her to himself.
She laughs, and his heart is humming. He wants to hear that laugh, in his 30s, 40s until he’s unable to hear anymore.
“Now I’m talking to you aren’t I?” Her eyes are beaming, she’s mischievous and yet innocent, he still hasn’t figured her out yet.
“You should only talk to me from now on, until this party ends okay?” Changmin thinks that she should just talk to him only till forever, but then that would just sound weird and awkward.
“Okay deal~” She puts her hand up as a sign of promise.
She is very prideful
She never cries
How strong of a person she is
Changmin accidentally meets Seohyun in the practice room.
“knock knock.” Changmin enters the room, she’s covered in sweat, yet she’s on the floor, furiously writing notes.
“Oh oppa. Do you want to use the practice room?” Seohyun gets up,her steps are wobbly, but she bows a little to him anyways. Changmin secretly hates that, they’ve been dating for a while, and it’s been a really awkward transition, from brother and sister to potential boyfriend girlfriend, but really, is the bow necessary when they’re dating?
“Not anymore. I thought you had an early class tomorrow, why are you here?”
Seohyun smiles, but Changmin can clearly see the pressure she’s holding.
“I know, it’s just that, there’s a few steps that I needed to work on..” She cringes but smiles anyway.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. Don’t worry…” Changmin cuts her off before she even had time to assure him of anything.
“That doesn’t look like fine to me. You’re hurt, sit down.” Seohyun looks down at where Changmin pointed, realizing that a shade of blue appeared on her ankle.
“No it’s o..”
“Sit!”
Seohyun sits, her lips trembling. Changmin sighs, and goes to get the first aid kit. He comes back, and sits opposite her. He takes out some ointment and smears it on her ankle, after that’s done, he bandages it.
“You can’t just get hurt, and then say you’re okay when you’re not. And this,” he points to the book and the room. “I know, SNSD and education are both important, but stressing yourself isn’t going to do any good.”
“I’m seriously okay oppa, but thank you.” She’s lying, and he knows it, it’s not okay, but he also knows that she’s going to get through this.
Even at my lame jokes
She is always laughing
Although, there are times when I’m not sure if she’s honestly laughing.
“Okay, smart pants, it’s your turn to tell a joke.” Kyuhyun jabs at Changmin, and Changmin sputters some of his soju.
All eyes were on him, Seohyun, Kyuhyun, Minho and Victoria.
“Why can’t Dracula’s wife go to sleep?” Changmin asks. Everyone shrugs, waiting for his answer.
“Because of his coffin. Get it? coffin and coughing?” Minho, Kyuhyun and Victoria sniggered but Seohyun is laughing, her eyes crinkling, he thinks she finds everything funny. She’s so innocent like that.
“That was lame okay? Next!”
Changmin sighs and smiles at Seohyun, still laughing.
The more I know you, The more I can’t understand you.
That person is my lady
Changmin sees Seohyun’s pattern, despite them dating, she still treats him more like a brother, and he doesn’t know how to change that. She still bows to him, still uses formal speech, she’s innocent yet mischievous, she’s mysterious in ways he can’t understand, and it makes him crazy.
“Joohyun-ah?”
“yes oppa?”
“If you see me, can you wave at me?”
Seohyun looks at him weirdly and then laughs.
“You mean to stop bowing at you?” Changmin was taken aback, he wasn’t expecting that.
“Yeah, since we are..” Changmin didn’t know how to put it, they liked each other, they’re dating but both are too shy to even make it official.
“Together.” Seohyun smiles, her cheeks blushing rosily, and Changmin smiles as well. That was much easier to describe their relationship. To be quite honest, that was much more than enough.
Oh, I know this lady, Baby
Only I know
Only those who love her can know
Even her tears
Seo Joohyun, that name rolls off his tongue easily. He says it 1000 times, and it doesn’t tire, it doesn’t expire, it’s fresh and easy, and he wants to say it everyday.
When he searches for her, asking from her members, her manager, the cleaners, and he can’t find her, Changmin starts to worry.
He grumbles in frustration and searches the last place he could think of. He finds her on the rooftop where the idols occasionally go to talk among themselves and get a little bit of fresh air without worrying about spying fans.
She’s staring absently at the flowers, and he can already sense her troubles.
“Joohyun-ah.” He calls her softly, and she immediately wipes her eyes.
“Ah, oppa.” She was about to bow, but then seeing his face, she waves awkwardly.
“I guess that was an improvement.” He smiles.
There was a long silence, he didn’t like seeing her troubled but he didn’t know where to start, how to make her feel better.
“Joohyun-ah.”
“Hmm?”
Changmin stops a while, trying to form the right kind of sentences.
“You know I’ll always be there for you right?”
She was silent.
“You know you can tell me anything right?”
She slowly nods.
He braves himself, and holds her hands, facing her to him.
“I know it’s hard, it’s a little bit too much for you to face this on your own, you can stop being so strong, let me be there for you.”
And then she cries.
Slow sobs, pure tears streaming her face, her eyes pooling and glittery, but she’s crying, and that’s enough to know that she trusts him, she trusts him with her heart.
Changmin pulls her in for a hug, and she’s hugging back. He feels like some sort of burden has been lifted, and that he can finally breathe again. He’s holding her tight, relishing in the scent of her long hair, kissing her head gently. He’s always wanted to do that, he always wanted to pamper her, to take care of her, even if the hardest thing to do was to express his feelings, or how much he loves her.
“I’m here. I’ll always be. I’ll protect you.”
Changmin knows her. Changmin knows it’s her. He’s never felt such a strong emotion before.
She’s his, and he intends to keep it that way.
