Baltimore Comic Con

I went to my first comic convention on Saturday. Drove down with Ronan, Gail & Owynn and we made pretty good time. Go there before it opened, but still had to wait in line at the 'will call' booth to pick up our tickets. Then wait in another line, which snaked all the way around the lobby, to finally get downstairs into the convention hall.

Oh, in walking up to the convention center, members of the 501st were directing comic con traffic to the secondary doors, because the other half of the center was taken up by a dentist con :-D

Aside from the guys in the 501st, I really didn't see too many costumes. A few animee girls, Superman (along with the padding), a blue thing, and The Joker.

I didn't know any of the artists, so I didn't get any signatures or artwork. I looked for a 'Snow White & Bigby Wolf' statue, but no one was carrying it. I found one vendor who said he had it back at his shop. I'm going to pop into my local Comic shop to see if they'll order it for me before I call this other guy.

I couldn't find the guy who does "Smoke & Mirrors" as I was hoping too. Made a quick stop by Tommy Castillo's table and said hi. He seemed to be doing well.

Picked up a new comic called "The Victorian" which sounded like a twist on "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" with a bit of time travel thrown in. I haven't started to read it yet though.

Found two action figures for $3 each, one of Lowaxana Troy (sp?) from ST:TNG and Princess Leia in her Ewok village outfit. Also picked up "Serenity: Those Left Behind". If I had thought about it ahead of time, I would have looked to see which issues of "Fables" I was missing. The prices on the trade paperback were fabulous, but I didn't want to take the chance of getting duplicates.

We had lunch at a little pub across the street from the center, very good food, and we timed it just right. Got a table as soon as we walked in, and by the time we left there were dozens of people waiting to get in. Went back to the center and walked around some more and did a little more shopping.

I found these things called Giant Microbes. They are plush toys of germs & stuff. I got the Red Blood Cell and White Blood Cell, which are currently hanging off my desk at work now. They had other things like Eboli, Plague, Brain Cell, etc.

All in all I had a really good time, and would love to go back next year. Or to another one. Next time I'll bring a list of back issues I want to find.
