I had an awesome game of Dominion tonight. Actually, three awesome games, but the last one was much more awesomer than the others :)

Cut for people who don't care about card/board games )

I'm pretty sure Chapel/Silver's a better opening than Chapel/Mint in that case (and Chapel/Royal seal beats Chapel/Silver); The early Mint just doesn't do you that much good, because you don't have anything useful to copy yet.

Not sure how I'd manage the Grand Market (+2 coin, actually)/Gold decision with that mix: Copying Gold is nice, but Grand Market is a really, really good card. I'd probably try to go Silver->Grand Market->Platinum, maybe getting the grotesque King's Court/Mint/Platinum combo.

This calls for experimentation.

It's hard to say if the Mint is a better choice when the Chapel is also available or not. One of the big points is that you manage to get rid of so much cruft right at the start.

But in any case, i had a silver to Mint on the fifth or sixth turn i think, and a Royal Seal the time after that, and then i Minted three or four Platinums. (I did buy one gold, but never got the chance to Mint it before the platinums came around.)

On further reflection, the proper opening is probably Mint/Copper.
You might be able to buy a Silver on turn 3, and if not, a Chapel is pretty likely.

Not entirely related to your particular game commentary, but if you ever wanna play on isotropic, my Gchat is "skuldchan" and we should totally play sometime!

Ooohhh! Yes we should! Shelleycat and i have been playing a lot of 2 player games and keep saying we should find a third or fourth player but never actually do anything about it :)

(Hmmm, does isotropic limit you to four players? Or does it handle the 5-6 player variant?)

Yeah, isotropic supports the 5-6 variants. or at least, I've played with 5, never with 6 before, but the rules are the same, so I'm assuming that it does 6.

We had a bunch of friends on last night playing, which was pretty cool. What's your username and Shelleycat's? You'll see me in isotropic late at night as "skuldchan."
