I was talking with my friend Amy a couple days ago, and she had a brilliant observation. You know how sometimes you become hungry, but you're not sure what you're hungry for? She says she gets that way sometimes - when she's thirsty. Isn't that weird? You think you're hungry, when you really just need something to drink. Amy wins this week's Insightful Observation Award, along with invitation to witness Ben Affleck getting eaten alive by wolves. (Only she would understand that, and she doesn't even read this. Sigh.)
Speaking of people who don't read this journal, Sara has an internship this summer at KHQA, where I used to work overnights as Master Control Operator (ie. I pushed buttons, ate peanut butter out of the jar, and played Game Boy). Anyway, I went out to Steak'n'Shake with her and some people I used to work with at KHQA, and one of my fellow co-workers told me that I was the best Weekend Master Control person they've ever had. When asked if I missed that job, I replied that I miss the station, but not the hours. (I was working Saturdays and Sundays 1AM-1PM.) I commented that the money was good... And I found out that I was actually making more per hour than people who did that job full-time. Hmmm...
Sheila is in Chicago today, attending the Orientation Session at Argosy University, where she will be studying in the Fall. She also found a nice apartment for a fairly reasonable price, which I can't reveal or she would sue me for breach of privacy. (If she could find any fingerprints.)
ATTENTION COMPUTER GEEKS: I hear that Service Pack #2 for Windows XP is set to be released very shortly, possibly within the next twenty-four hours. Oh yes! Updates to Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player and lots more. The downside is that it's expected to be about 75MB, which means I'll be online downloading it for probably the rest of my life. I guess that's what I get for being too cheap, and only paying for dial-up service.
And although you will probably be extremely disappointed, there will not be any random song lyrics this week. I shall conclude, therefore, with a very special acknowledgment.
The "D'oh! What the Hell Did I Just Say?" Award: George Bush, for the following comment... "[Our enemies] never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."
