BRUCKNER 7 RULEZ 4 LIFE!!!
So I was just in brass class playing Bruckner's 7th Symphony...IT MOTHA FUCKIN' RAWKS!!!!!!!!!!! HELLZ YEAH!!!
If you don't know what I'm talking about, yuo MUST go listen to it NOW. Preferably a good recording. Try Barenboim/Berlin Philharmonic on Telarc, Karajan/Vienna Philharmonic on Deutsche Grammophon, or (on the off-chance that you can find it) Tintner/Royal Scottish National Orchestra on Naxos. I mean, really. That last one's only $6.99 at full price, but you may be able to find one of the others at a library or something.
ANYWAY. it's awesome. I love it. I was expecting it to be so loud that it would be hard to play. You know, I thought it might be kinda awkward on the horn. That's always my fear with music I love to listen to. BUT NO, it lay PERFECTLY on the horn, and playing that symphony felt like one of the most natural things I've ever done. I'm pretty sure I sounded good, too. More importantly, I'm pretty damn sure that the whole brass section sounded pretty bitchin'. Fuck yeah. I love anchoring a section like that.
