So I'm looking over the guest list for the Screaming Tiki Super Con here this weekend and one thing keeps popping out at me -- it isn't that super. This is supposed to be a convention oriented around Superman, so the main guest is... Edward James Olmos?
I mean, yeah, okay, maybe he read a Superman comic once or twice in his lifetime, but for the amount of money they're paying him to charge $60 for an autograph they could have probably gotten the entire creative teams of all the current Superman comics.
Or, ya know, any Superman comic creators. The con has three actors who were/are on Smallville (and Supergirl), but that's it. Not one Superman comic creator is attending a convention that is supposed to celebrate Superman comics.
This convention is part of an artsy-fartsy event called Ingenuity Fest here in Cleveland. The Ingenuity people gave the convention people a lot of money to put the convention on. I wonder if they have any idea how that money was spent.
End of rant.
