Or almost. Chef has finished his final project, so all he has left is tomorrow: the Awards Lunch (which really isn't as fancy as it sounds) and the Portfolio Show. I REALLY wish I could be there to see the Show, but between lack of gas/money and needing to be home for boyo at noon, that's just not possible. The better thing is Chef is done with school. This really is it. I am so, so proud of him! He walked into Ai with a 2.2? GPA (or lower, actually, but I think it got bumped up by the classes they discounted because they wouldn't transfer) and he's walking out with a 3.6. Just goes to show what doing what you love to do can do for you. And he's become so much more confident. And he's found a job he loves. He's the same man I married, only better because he's happier, if that makes sense. So very, VERY happy for him!
First step for our future: Check. ;)
I really wish I could just spoil him rotten. Especially considering how much was on his mind and how much he's struggled over the last 2 quarters. He's persevered. He made it. Even when tempted to, he never gave up. He's an inspiration. He really is.
Fortunately, even though I can't spoil him, a friend of his will be. They are having delivered to us next week sometime a box of fresh seafood including live Main lobsters (3 to 4 pounders!). How the hell they're getting here live, I have no idea, but Chef is already planning his menu for them. lol Also included, calamari and shrimp. I wish it was going to be here tomorrow! Chef wants to play with an idea for a sauce for the lobster that he wants to offer at the restaurant. I didn't think we'd have a chance to let him play around with it and even see if it would work for some time, but our friends have made it possible a little early.
He gets something of a break-nobody is hiring right now since holiday help has all been hired, the catering company is busy next week but not much for Christmas week then bust again for New Year's-so he can recover from the push a little before he starts hunting for full time in earnest. If we're lucky (which has never been something we can claim, honestly), either something will open in one of the catering company's restaurants, someone will discuss an offer at the Portfolio show, or one of the various places he's sent a resume to and will nudge in an email to let them know he's available any time now will have something for him. But for now, he can breathe: graduation (all but ceremony) accomplished and catering job should carry us through to the new year (after that, it's likely the business will die down a bit, so the hours will too, and the pressure will be on).
Got quite a bit done before Chef took over the laptop yesterday, so pretty content with what I managed. Again, I ended up staying up too late trying to get chapter 26 done and off to my pre-beta reader. Still not certain about it, but hopefully she'll point out where it needs fixing.
Really, I hate rewrites. Liking most the rest of the novel, but the rewritten chapters have me on shaky ground confidence wise.
And the next chapter is looking like it might need a make over and split as well. In this case, however, I don't think I'll actually split it until I see where the revisions take me. Here's the numbers....
Word Counts Yesterday
Total New (incl WB): 0
Total Words: 2366
Total Pages Revised: 6
starting line:
Moments later, Randi landed on the roof of the warehouse at the address Chavarría had given her.
ending line:
With a final swing, she cut the creature in half, the pieces evaporating before they reached the ground.
Yea, not much changed in those lines, but quite a bit changed in the middle in all three rounds, which is why I'm nervous about it, I think. Usually I'm most comfortable when there aren't a lot of changes. Today, Chef is at school for the Awards Lunch and the Portfolio Show and goes right to work from there. On the flip side, kids are home around noon or so. So, have a long to do list, but not sure how much will get done. I've noticed the kids being home can make a difference in productivity. I may just let them watch movies until dinner while I put on headphones and music. I'll still be a but distracted by the movie, but I suspect it would be better than the interruptions as they come down every half hour asking to do this, that, ot the other thing. lol

Need to get right to work. I don't want to be up late again this morning since the kids are coming home 2 hours early. The more I get done now, the earlier I can crash.
Well, assuming my TC download doesn't start at 5 AM and takes less than 3 hours. If it's going to be that much of a mess, I may just have to wait until after I get up to download it. Really not liking iTunes so much. *grumps*
