Good In A Weird Way

Sep 14, 2010 05:00

That pretty much describes Monday. Last week was pretty meh-got some things done, just not as much as I'd hoped. And this week starts in the hole writing-wise, but there are a few other things that happened that make it okay, for the most part:

1. My BP was back up, which is to be expected when you're off your heart meds for 4 days. But my doctor sent me to the business office to see if I could get some help getting them covered instead of having to wait until the end of the week to get them. I now get vouchers to cover my med co-pays until the end of the year. I've alerted psycho_meower to the program since her meds cost more then mine individually, and we'll probably see about getting my son on it. Yea, there's only 4 months left in the year, but that's going to be at least $200 saved for us without having to worry about how to pay for meds and the electricity or food out of the same money. I'll take it.

2. Another rejection for A.C., but the agent indicated it "sounded like an interesting novel", it just didn't fit what she was working with at the moment. This is the second rejection that had an unexpected bright spot in it (the first was receiving a brief rejection from an agent who indicates on her website she only contacts the author if interested), so I'm thinking that my query letter is probably fine, and I'm just fighting the genre battle. Epic fantasy is close to my heart, but not so close to publishers' pocketbooks.

3. The man had a hold on his registration for next term because int he battle to keep the lights on, a roof over our head, and food on the table, the money to make our monthly payments to the school just wasn't there and we owed quite a bit...until tsykika registered and the $500 family member tuition scholarship kicked in and dramatically reduced what we owed. He registered for classes today.

And that's been pretty much the day and some of the week: something not so good framed in something good. After the horrendous summer we've had, I'll take any good I can find.

Now, seriously, I just need to get back on track with my writing. Amazing what even a few days of down time, from being sick or whatever, can do to the whole routine and motivation. :P

Not bad, not good, just...meh. The weight gain is no surprise (I honestly thought it was going to be more), but with fall classes (a couple of which are on campus out of requirement) and the job (which damn well better start kicking in soon, or I'm going to think it was another joke on us), the man should be out of the house enough for me to find time to exercise without feeling embarrassed about it. I'm also going to write my encouragement note some time this week. It worked with helping change my mindset about my writing, maybe it'll work with this.

And that's pretty much it for the moment. Have to get the kids up in 30, and I'd like to be in bed as soon as they're out the door. Need to get my "lunch" meal in as well since I didn't eat that much yesterday. I was hoping tog et some writing in, but it never quite happened. Definitely need to get focused after I get up in the afternoon, especially since being behind for two weeks in a row has really put me behind on my challenges for the writing group. :P

For now, though, I'm off. Must forage before I wake the kids. ;)
