Earlier this year, I sent out a couple of stories and one of these was a reprint that went to a brand new market. I actually heard back pretty quickly: would I be willing to make some changes? She did note that one of the changes would be significant, but did not give me a list. The market only pays $10 a story, is new, and she's a relative unknown as far as I can tell, so I had to tell her I can't say until I see what she wants. I mean there's significant changes that keep the foundations of the story and then there are changes that make it a whole different story. One I might be willing to do for $10, the other? Not so much.
Her changes came back in last night. She wants a different, but definitely related story, and apparently did not really get the story I actually wrote at all. Some of her changes might make sense...if the others didn't make it so obvious she had no clue about the story I actually wrote. And there's a mention of a plot hole that she never actually points out. She does point out an inconsistency or two, but not a plot hole...unless the major change that would completely change the story is her idea of a plot hole. In which case, it's not a plot hole; she just didn't get what was going on. Of course, I knew it could be a knee jerk reaction to the edits, so I talked with someone else, and based on the various samples I sent (from both sides of the making sense scale), she doesn't think it's a knee-jerk reaction. I have two others taking a look as well, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to thank the editor for her time and decline the contract.
At least I have an acceptance early in the year, even if it won't go to print. That's something.
For today...

Yep, pretty busy. I actually set most these up last night, which is why I ended up have to cross out the whysper fixes. I listed them because I thought I would be up with the kids this morning. The man got up with them instead, so I didn't have my usual time to do those.
As for the rest, got a late start, so I better get moving. Need to get some dishes in the sink and start at least one of the various writing projects listed.
Really, it's no wonder I can't keep up on my LJ flist or twitter! lol
