So, as mentioned in my previous goals post, how much I get done of the goals relies on whether or not I was hired for a freelance position. An author I edited at LP contacted me to edit a book he's getting published through another small press. He had actually contacted me some time back, but I was on hiatus from editing completely.
Circumstances change.
We need the money, so much so that I was willing to even compromise on the price. Still making A LOT more on this one book than I did in 2 years at LP. I need to send him the contract, after making the necessary adjustments. I gave him the basics of my terms, and he's already agreed to them; the contract just clarifies all that and what is expected for the money, etc.
The only question for me now is whether or not I put my freelance editing page back up. On the one hand, I'm not likely to get a lot of traffic, but what little I do get out of it would be helpful. On the other, if I do get a lot of traffic/contacts/offers, I REALLY don't want it to overrun my writing like it did with LP. It's not a primary focus for me, my writing is.
Things to think about. In the meantime, it'll be interesting to see how much I can get done on my goals for the week while also editing a novel.
But I also have to say that it's VERY cool that I impressed an author so much that he's willing to pay for me to work with him again. Very, very cool.
