Introduction

It's been 20 years since the boardcast of "Bokura no yuuki~Miman Toshi" (Sat 9m, average viewing 16.8%) in 1997's Saturday 9pm slot. The main stars of the drama are of course, KinKi Kids. They were 18 years old. The theme song "Aisareru yori aishitai" sold more than 1.6 million copies.

"After hearing the news of a major earthquake struck a certain town, high school student Yamato, as well as Takeru who is also a high school student, are both looking for their friends by sneaking pass heavy security, and into a fenced city.
The city is full of chaos because only children were left, while all adults died.
Yamato and Takeru overcome various problems, and restore order to a city ladened with violent children."

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of KinKi Kids' debut, we will fulfil the promise which was strangely said in the final episode of the drama, "Let's meet here again in 20 years," through a drama special this summer.
With Tsutsumi Yukihiro as the director and Hazeyama Hiroko as the producer, the production staff will be the same as 20 years ago. Please look forward to this long-waited drama special by NTV.

20 years ago, after the last battle, Yamato said: "We will not become adults like you all" and "Let's meet here again in 20 years."
It's been 20 years.
...What kind of adults have we become?

It's been 20 years...
They will try to reunite on the promised day. People who will come, people who won't...
The truth is, they all have different internal turmoils.
"Is this who we wanted to become?
Didn't we become the adults we said no to?"
And, a strong enemy appeared again.

In 1997, with youthful courage as our only weapon, we faced a strong enemy called the government's plot.
In 2017, we are faced with a stronger enemy.
This enemy is... ourselves?

KinKi Kids Comment

Domoto Koichi (Yamato)
Though it has been 20 years since the boardcast, looking back now, I feel that it was a valuable and rich experience.
As youths who were against adults, we became adults ourselves. I'm looking forward to expressing truthful and direct feelings through Yamato again, from an opposite [an adult's] perspective.
I am grateful to be able to work together with the same staff and Tsutsumi director. At the same time, I wish to face a grown-up Yamato.
It would be great if I can express these feelings while providing entertainment for people who saw the drama back then, as well as people who are watching it for the very first time.

Domoto Tsuyoshi (Takeru)
I feel joy being able to meet Takeru again after 20 years.
Though feeling nostalgic to Takeru's sense of justice and pure feelings due to youth, I want to live as Takeru who became an adult.
I am looking forward to and thankful for fate which allows me to be able to create new things again with the staff that I met at a sensitive and impressionable age.

Producer Comment

Hazeyama Hiroko
Thanks to different miracles and chances, 20 years after, we are able to meet by fate again.
The most strange thing is that, 20 years ago, when I was writing the last episode's script, the "reunion" is set as 20 years later, rather than 10 years later.
I didn't write it as so because I envisioned a drama special then, but rather, I thought about "when does one become an adult?"
This year marks the 20th anniversary for KinKi Kids' debut. They became the age in which I imagined "adults" to be from back then.
What kind of adults did the 18-year-old youths become in 20 years time? I would like to create a drama full of entertainment with the same view of the world as then.
