I HOPE ITACHI'S REALLY DEAD! Like DEAD dead. For real dead. Not because I don't like Itachi (I do) or because I'm sick of this fight (I'm not).
I HOPE ITACHI'S DEAD BECAUSE IT MEANS SASUKE FAILED.
Itachi's dead, sure. But Sasuke didn't kill him. Sasuke survived him. And I like that. Not because I don't like Sasuke (I don't, really, but I don't hate him either.) but because that would be an interesting outcome to the brothers' fight. Because leading up to it, the outcomes looked like:
A) Sasuke kills Itachi: Sasuke wins.
or
B) Itachi gets Sasuke's eyes: Itachi wins.
If Itachi just died, NO ONE WINS. The last of the once great Uchiha clan (except for Madara, but whatever), the two little prodigies channel all of their excessive talent and skill, devote every fiber of their lives to their singular, warped goals.
And they both fail. They get so close, so damn close, but still fail. Best panel ever.
If that's not beautiful, I don't know what is. Especially since the comic has been getting a little formulaic and predictable. But maybe this is what Kishimoto had planned all along. If it is, that's just fabulous. Yay!
BLEACH SPOILERS
But until the Sasuke-Itachi thing happened, the spoiler pics from Bleach made me yell. My dad likes watching the director's cut of Kingdom of Heaven, and there's this part where Legolas looks beaten, and Saladin's army is going to win.
And then, in the distance, "Jerusalem has come."
So. Last night I click on the Bleach spoiler.
