More Chapter 22 Progress...
I'm 3531 words into chapter 22 (currently untitled) now, and am--all things considered--quite satisfied with my progress. Scholastic pressure has let up a (very) little bit, but it's enough that I can write a bit more often than I otherwise could. So far, I've covered a Significant Revelation and its emotional fallout, and Phoebe and Cole are currently sharing a tender moment. It'll probably wrap itself up in a page or two, so I'm optimistic about posting over the weekend.
From there, I want to move into concrete handfasting plans--the timetable will have to move up a bit for reasons that'll become obvious in the chapter--and from there into the events of "Necromancing the Stone." Handfasting should occur slightly before Wyatt's Wiccaning, after which things will start gearing up to cover "Oh My Goddess", which I think will end up being fairly extensive.
Still not quite sure what I'm going to do about Leo...do I split him and Piper up via the "ascension to Elder" subplot? The show never really managed to justify (at least to me) why Leo couldn't do as an Elder essentially what he'd been doing as a Whitelighter (i.e., orb out as duty required). On the other hand, having Leo only sporadically in the picture for a while would give me the opportunity to put Cole in a quasi-paternal role as far as Wyatt is concerned (if only by virtue of being the only consistently present male figure) which would allow him some practice before his and Phoebe's daughter is born...
Other issue: Chris. Do I have him present his actual identity from the beginning to foster trust and simplify the overall plotline (i.e., none of that "almost prevented his own conception" nonsense), or do I play out the mystery more or less as the original did? I prefer the first option, and it's what I'll probably end up going with; on the other hand, then I have to replace the 'mystery of Chris' identity' subplot with something else.
As far as the vignette I mentioned in my previous entry, it's taken the backseat to chapter 22, but when it's finished (and I'm making no promises as far as the timeframe on that) I'll probably post it on FF.N, albeit with a spoiler warning.
