Chapter 17 Posted Early!
Chapter 17 is posted early! This should give everyone plenty of time to review, and--hopefully--make up a bit for the lateness of the previous chapter. (Once more, my sincere apologies for that.)
To reiterate from my last entry, I'm extremely pleased with this one--the amount of research that went into putting that ritual together would probably strike most people as slightly insane, but I enjoy research, and the detail it lets me infuse my writing with is (and I think you'll agree) well worth the time.
Next chapter should be the "birth" chapter--I know I said I wanted to be in Cole's PoV for that, but it's time Wyatt finally made an entrance, because he's going to be at the center of the primary conflict arc (a.k.a. 'demons are after the baby!') for the next few chapters. Besides, I found another way around the 'dislike of writing birth from midwife's viewpoint' issue...I'm not going to spoil it, but it works well.
I also have a subplot I've introduced with this latest chapter that should be around for two or three chapters (with more lasting repercussions). It's another brainstorm I'm really thrilled with, because in all the stories I've read, I haven't seen it done. Anyway, from there, we should start gearing up into handfasting plans, probably shortly after the events of "Sense and Sense Ability."
Still contemplating the "Oh My Goddess" issue--if I go that far, I'm probably going to end up segueing into season 6 (and possibly through the rest of the series). I didn't intend to do that when I was in TRD's planning stages, and I'm unsure whether I have the time to commit to a full three seasons of rewriting...on the other hand, I know there are a lot of episodes I'd have tons of fun with, so I'm not going to be completely satisfied, no matter what I do.
