Characters: Malik [scarred_bronze], someone who isn't Ryou for once BUT IS STILL ONE OF THE BAKURAE Diabound [goldenfetish], and Yusra [NPC]

Rating: PG-13 for snark and probably some potty language.

Summary: While out doing grocery shopping, Malik happens to run into Diabound. Like all friends who haven't spoken to each other in a hella long time, they catch up a tiny bit and poke fun at each others' lives or lack thereof.

Usually, whenever Malik was off work, he was at home lounging around with his boyfriend. And sometimes they were doing a lot more than just lounging. Although this time, there was no lounging-and-then-some to be done yet, because Malik's apartment currently lacked one thing: food.

This explained why he was pushing a shopping cart through the produce section, looking more than a little irritated. This could've been because the price on daikon radishes had been upped to five hundred yen each, though the fact that he was not at home with Ryou was probably more likely.

Oh well. The faster he got his shopping done, the faster he could get home.

The only reason Diabound was out doing the grocery shopping was that Mahaado had developed enough of a backbone to force him out to purchase his own diapers (and then of course, on the way out, had added that Diabound should pick up one or two things and thrusted a list in his hands). So now, that left him pushing the cart with one hand and holding Yusra, the giggly little devil she was, with the other.

He turned down the produce aisle, struggling to glance at the list he'd put in the cart and then deciding that he didn't care enough to buy anything but what he wanted to eat, and possibly a few things for Yusra. After all, Mahaado was a big boy. He could do his own shopping.

"Dada~" Yusra grinned, tugging on the fabric of Diabound's shirt. The elder man grunted, but paid no further attention to her.

Holding back a frustrated sigh, Malik decided to bypass the daikon for one week - despite that he was liable to go through withdrawal without it in his salads - and continued down the aisle. He started to stop next to where the cabbage was, but a flash of white hair caught his eye.

He looked up, spying a familiar face a bit further down the aisle. "Well, look who it is," Malik called, pushing his cart down to where Diabound was. "You come here often, or is this a one-time thing?"

Diabound glanced over to Malik, smirk on his lips. "I have to eat, too, you know," he informed the other, "but no -- I originally only came here for diapers." He wouldn't add that Mahaado was the reason the rest of the items were in his cart.

Yusra cooed, blue eyes obviously focused on Malik's earrings, a smile on her lips. "Dada!" She reached out to grab the earrings, but Diabound held her back (not that Malik was close enough that she could have reached, but he wasn't about to risk dropping her).

Malik blinked for a moment and eyed Yusra, then tugged his hair in front of his ears, effectively hiding the gold earrings from view. His earlobes throbbed just looking at her. "By the look of your shopping cart, I'm guessing you were roped into getting more than just diapers," he said with a smirk, leaning against his cart. "Groceries aside, how are things? How many nights have you gone without sleep in the last week?"

Diabound snorted at the other's reaction, but refrained from commenting. "How are things?" he repeated idly, watching from the corner of his eye and Yusra gave a disappointed huff and rested her head on his shoulder. Well, at least she hadn't started crying. "Fine. I haven't slept decently since Ryou last babysat her, but that's not entirely Yusra's fault."

Raising an eyebrow at his response, Malik reached into the icebox and grabbed a decent-looking head of cabbage, stuffing it into a plastic bag. "Oh really?" he asked, trying to block any images of owls from his head. "I'd ask, but I'm probably better off not knowing." ... Or he'd just draw his own conclusions, which was just as bad.

Diabound shrugged his shoulders. "Probably are," he replied, stifling a yawn. Yusra followed suit and yawned as well. "Good, maybe she'll fall asleep by the time we get home," Diabound murmured, mostly to himself. "So, what about you? What have you been doing?" Then with a sly smirk, he added, "Other than my brother, of course."

It took Malik a second to respond to that; his face flushed a bit, and he averted his eyes from Diabound, giving an idle cough. "Um. Y'know. Working, spending time with Ryou, all of that stuff." 'Spending time' had several connotations of its own, but he decided to spare Diabound from any... unnecessary mental images.

Diabound just gave a slight scoff and nodded. "How exciting." He gave the shelf an idle eye, seeing nothing that he particularly wanted. "So, Ryou has you doing the grocery shopping?" he teased.

"Not exactly," Malik said, moving down the aisle a bit to eye some carrots. "I do my own shopping anyway. I'm just shopping for two at the moment."

"Not exactly?" Diabound grunted as Yusra tiredly grasped his hair, tiny fingers wrapping around his silver strands with strength that a child should not have. "Well, whatever. I could care less."

"Hey, you asked." Malik shrugged and picked up a bundle of the carrots, tossing them in his basket. He looked over at Yusra, smirking a little as she tugged on her dad's hair. "She does that to everyone, doesn't she? Or just those with white hair?"

"Everyone, from what I can tell," Diabound snickered with a light shrug, trying to work her fingers from his hair. "Did you not have this trouble with her?" Of course, chances were, Malik hadn't gotten close to Yusra while Ryou was watching her, but hey, one never knows.

Malik smirked. "Ryou definitely did, but she tended to go for my earrings instead. Which is a lot more painful." He made doubly sure to keep his earrings well-hidden behind his hair, lest Yusra - or Diabound - get any ideas.

"Mm, it's a shame she didn't get ahold of them then. I might have been able to get a little money," Diabound replied with a grin.

"Yeah, but then I'd just have you get me some new ones." Not like he didn't have any other pairs, but those were his favorites. Plus it would be amusing to see if he'd actually get them.

"That'd work out well," Diabound snorted. Yusra gave her own squeal in response, squirming out to turn and look at Malik, apparently just then recalling they weren't alone.

"Dada?" she spoke, turning her head back to her father. Diabound paid no attention to her.

"... She's just off in her own little world, isn't she?" Malik asked, raising an eyebrow.

Diabound gave his daughter a skeptical glance and then replied, "Yes, though I wish she'd stay there."

"Don't we all." Malik let out a snort, rolling his eyes. He glanced down at his watch, then his shopping cart. "I should probably finish up and get back home before Ryou starts to think I died or something."

Diabound nodded, half wondering if his brother had already drawn said conclusions, given how much he worried, but deciding to not say anything. "Alright. Tell him I said hello."

"Will do," Malik agreed, giving him a nod in return. "Try not to kill your kid or something, okay?"

Diabound snickered. "We'll see," he replied with a wave, before turning back to his cart.

Malik waved back and started heading down the aisle again, feeling a bit better about the shopping - and much more amused.
