The Step: Try a short meditation to help you notice your thoughts and settle your mind
The Science: Mindfulness meditation can support our ability to regulate emotions, memory, and learning. Daily practice can also possibly help to improve insomnia, depression, and fatigue, as well as reduce stress and anxiety.
The Secret Sauce: Start Small. If three minutes feels impossible, commit to just one minute and bring your attention to the feeling of the breath moving in and out of your nose. If the mind wanders, bring it back to the breath. Rinse and repeat.
Over to you: Which thoughts were playing on repeat as you meditated? What else came up for you? How did it feel to take a few minutes to step back and witness your inner world?
I listen to a wind down of sorts each night. It helps me to take a moment to feel my body settle and calm my mind. I try my best to focus on just the instructions being given to me. I can almost instantly relax and feel the tension leave my neck and shoulders.
I want to try to incorporate more of this into my daily work day. Just a few short minutes, even while sitting at my desk with headphones.
What about you friends? Are there any meditation podcasts or YouTube videos you can recommend? What works for you and what doesn't?
