The reveal.
~ Chapter 13 ~
Two days later, Caitlyn calls Katorea. “Guess what, Kat. We’re in the tabloids now. I’m bringing you a copy right now.” When she arrives, she hands Katorea the paper. “Here you go. Your own copy.”
Katorea looks at the front. On the side of the front-page she reads the title ‘George Harrison’s New Girlfriend: Mystery Girl Revealed - Exclusive story - page six’. She turns to page six. There is a two-page spread full of pictures. The Article reads:
George Harrison, lead guitarist for the Beatles, has a new girlfriend. They were seen together recently at a local club. They were with John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and Ringo Starr, each of whom was with a friend of the mystery girl. This paper has the exclusive story on who the ‘Mystery Girl’ is. Upon further research, it was discovered that this is the same girl that was with the Beatles at their press conference here in England before the European leg of their tour. They had said that she was not one of their girlfriends, but rather the niece of their manager. We decided to do a little investigating and found out that she is, in fact, their manager’s niece, Katorea. She had just met them that morning.
The same day they returned to the UK, Mr. Harrison was seen with Katorea. They went out dancing at a local club. The next night she was seen out with Paul McCartney at a small diner. Staff at the diner said that they just ate dinner and talked. The waitress said about them, “They were very nice and polite. They only ate some dinner and talked for a bit. They seemed to be just friends. Paul had some bruises and it seemed like she was just comforting him after he had been hurt.” In fact, we learned that both Paul and George had bruises following George’s ‘date’ with Katorea. Had Paul gotten jealous that George had gone out with her? Had George gotten jealous that she was going out with Paul the next night? Did they get hurt in a mob of fans? Did someone try to hurt one of them and the other came to his rescue? Only they know for sure, but the exclusive photos we have show that George was in worse shape than Paul was. Fans outside Abbey Road Studios say that Paul couldn’t move his left arm very well and that George had a limp.
Last Saturday, George and Katorea went out to the same club, this time accompanied by the other Beatles and friends of Katorea. Ringo Starr was dancing with Katorea’s friend Delia. John Lennon was talking with Lea, one of Katorea’s other friends. Paul seemed to be very friendly with Caitlyn, one of Katorea’s best friends. After the group left the club, they were seen in a park near Katorea’s residence. They spent nearly two hours talking at the park. George stayed at Katorea’s house for the same amount of time. He went to her residence again Monday afternoon. Has George found ‘The One’? We’ll see.”
There is a picture of Katorea at the press conference. There is one with her and George the day they had come home, and one of her and Paul at the diner. There is one of the Beatles walking into Abbey Road Studios, a close-up of Paul and a close-up of George going into the studio showing their bruises and black eyes. There are some of them all at the club Saturday night, the picture of George and Katorea leaving the club Saturday, and one of Paul and Caitlyn at the park Saturday night sitting by the pond. And there was one of George and Katorea in the garden Monday afternoon, when he kissed her on the cheek.
Katorea can’t believe that they had gotten all those pictures without them knowing. She wonders if George has seen the paper yet. She calls him to see if he has seen it yet. When he answers the phone she states, “You were right.”
“About what?”
“The tabloids. Have you seen the ‘exclusive story’ in the Sun yet?”
“No, what does it say?”
“Well, for starters, we made the cover, just a mention of the article, but it’s still the cover. Then, inside there is a two page spread with a nice little article ‘revealing’ who I am and lots of lovely photos. Including one from Monday when I looked so hideous.”
“I guess I should have called you before I came over,” he laughed.
Just then, Katorea hears a door shut and hears John call, “Oh, Georgie. Paulie. You might want to come see this.”
George answers him, “John, bring that over here. I’m on the phone with our ‘Mystery Girl’ right now. Is that the Sun?”
“Yes,” John answers. “Paulie! You’re in the Sun. You might want to come see this.” John takes the paper over to George and sets it on the bed in front of him.
Paul comes over to the bed. “What’s all this about me being the sun?”
“You’re not the sun, Paulie, you’re in The Sun. The paper,” John answers.
“That’s a nice picture of you in the garden,” John shouts to Katorea.
“Tell him thanks,” she tells George.
After he finishes reading the article and looks at the pictures, George states, laughing, “Well, I have to admit, they didn’t get the most attractive pictures of us.”
“At least they don’t have one of us in the hotel room during the pillow fight.” George relays this to John who just laughs. “If they had had that one, John would be paying for it. Do you here that, Lennon?”
John just laughs at her. “She sounds just like Norm now! I’d better watch myself.”
Paul says in a panic, “I have to call Caitlyn and tell her about this.”
“Tell him not to bother. She’s here right now. She’s the one that showed me the article,” Katorea tells George.
After a short conversation, the four of them, George, Katorea, Caitlyn and Paul, decide to meet for tea at the diner Paul had taken Katorea to. They are going to try and think of a way to confuse the press.
