"At least let me pick you up. That way I can make sure you get home safe." Heather said softly.

She'd respect Aiden's wishes, hide the fact she'd wake up early and not be able to rest until her lover came home, but she couldn't bare the thought of Aiden coming home in a cab.

"I'd like that." Aiden smiled softly. "I can have them call you when I'm in recovery."

"Just promise me that they'll call me if they need to." Heather's voice was soft, her eyes betraying her concern.

Aiden scooted her chair closer to Heather and reached for her hand.

"They will. I'll be fine. I have a reason to live now."

Heather squeezed Aiden's hand and smiled.

"Just come home to me in one piece, Baby." She whispered and placed a gentle kiss on Aiden's forehead.

Aiden leaned into Heather's kiss and then rested her chin on her shoulder.

"I plan to."

"Then I promise not to worry too much." Heather smiled and stroked Aiden's hair.

Aiden smiled. "It's only cosmetic, non-invasive. I'll really be fine."

Heather pulled Aiden into her arms and held her there for a few minutes. She knew Aiden would come home, she knew that Aiden wouldn't leave her alone, but still she couldn't help but let the what if's surface.

Aiden happily melted into Heather's arms. "Shhh, my love." she soothed in Heather's ear. "Our story isn't over yet. There's so much more to tell."

Heather rested her head on Aiden's shoulder, she knew Aiden was right, that things would be okay. She just had to trust.

Aiden rested contently in Heather's arms for awhile before she dared brake the silence.

"What do you want to do today? I'll do anything you want." She said, wanting to make up for what she felt was a bomb she'd just dropped on Heather.

"To spend the day with you and fall asleep in your arms at the end of it." Heather answered softly.

"I don't care what we do, as long as I'm with you."

"Sounds good to me." She loved sleeping in Heather's bed, especially when Heather was still in it.

"Maybe we could go for a walk, get away from here for a bit." Heather suggested softly.

"I'd like that." Aiden smiled. "Did you want to go now?"
