She loves you and you know it, because she told you so, and even though Santana’s lied to you before, she wouldn’t lie about something like love. Not to you, at least.
But all the same, she leaves at the end of July. She leaves for the biggest, brightest things that she’s never dreamt of having but has always deserved, and you’re happy (for her), except for the part where she leaves you.
You don’t graduate that year, with the rest of your class. No one really seems surprised - you’re not really surprised - and that hurts, but not as much as it hurts to hear Santana reminding you that she loves you, just before she tells you she’s leaving.
She leaves at the end of July, and when she’s gone - off to New York, with Kurt and Rachel - you’re still left behind. She promised she’ll wait for you, but you know that she won’t, because when Santana lies to you, it’s usually for your benefit - and you definitely benefit from the hope that maybe you two will still be in love when you join her.
