I always have so much on my mind and alcohol seems to be the only thing that slows it enough to sleep. I’m doing my best to abstain, so I turn to chamomile tea instead...it’s not really doin the trick. I need to go invest in some melatonin. That always seems to work. In the mean time, I’m going to wait to get tired, listening to Sufjan Steven’s “Music for Insomnia”, and updating this old dinosaur.
Summer is always a busy time for me, but a good busy. I’m working a good deal and have found a different part time job at UPS downtown and can finally quit my old steadfast, Plaid Pantry. After two and a half years, it’s odd to finally turn and walk away. It’s a relief, no doubt, but there’s a small amount of sadness in there too. Alas, it’s time to move on and start a new chapter here in Portland.
I’m twenty five now and have watched myself make that transition to adulthood over the last year or so. I notice it physically, emotionally, and mentally. My facial features seem more chiseled than before and my muscles more defined. I’m losing hair at an alarming rate, but have embraced the look and have had the opposite experience with facial hair. I’m almost constantly sporting a goatee and mustache these days (sorry mom).
Summer is also a time to be in great shape! Since making my upgrade to a road bike this spring, I’ve pushed myself farther and faster than ever before, shunning the bus for sunshine on my face and wind in my...bandana. After some key upgrades to my bike and this whole summer under my belt, I think I might be ready to take that proverbial bike ride to the coast. I’d need some lightweight camping gear as well so I’m thinking next summer I will give it a shot. At this point, I could see myself easily doing 30+ miles a day with relative comfort. The coast is a good 60 miles away. Anyway, this is way in advance and I’m only daydreaming at this point.
Wednesday afternoon, I’ll be hoppin on a plane back to good old Saginaw, MI. I’m quite excited to be back home with almost no agenda but enjoying myself and visiting with friends. I look forward to seeing you all!
Well, I think I’m gettin tired now...peace!
