It's Monday when Elizabeth gets a few hours to herself and Nathan to actually mark their one year anniversary - she keeps looking at him like she's surprised and half-apologetic for her surprise. The girls are at school and she's got to go and talk to Ginger about her dentistry later, but for right now they have pastries and coffee and a few hours peace and quiet.
In a fit of whimsy and lack of better ideas, he receives a dozen new silk ties and her fondest regards. They're still in their packages, next to the fresh flowers he brought, while the addition to her collection of pendants rests at her throat.
They have the time to themselves a while, but the phone interrupts - for a moment she's tongue-tied, not quite sure why in God's name she'd be getting a call from the NYPD. Of course, it's about the damn car...she's going to be in New York this week, anyway, helping Maria with the move to the carriage house, and that's what she tells Nathan over the rest of her coffee, determinedly downplaying the fact she's going to run up earlier than she'd planned to be interviewed. By the police. Again.
At least it doesn't have anything to do with Todd this time.
(Damn it.)
