In retrospect, the stilettos hadn't been their best idea, Elizabeth reflects.

"You're going to need stitches, honey," Heidi is telling Nathan, cleaning up the blood as best she can with the first aid kit they found in the bathroom. Elizabeth -- who has carefully explained to the concierge that they need a very discreet doctor, and that that doctor needs to be here preferably half an hour ago -- joins them, tilting his face to get a good look at the damage she inadvertently did.

"Oh, God. I'm sorry--"

"It's fine, Lizzie." He goes to work his jaw and she can see him immediately regret it, and she helps keep the pressure on the wound. He's so damn stoic and that, frankly, should be a lot less attractive when he's bleeding from his face. She presses her lips to his shoulder and he brushes his hand down her body -- stilling slightly when it comes away with his own blood. "Maybe you should have a shower."

"Maybe you should be quiet. Moving your mouth around can't be helping." She's a little tart but mostly shaken -- those shoes are going to go down in history as the worst moodkillers in the entire world.

He makes a face at her and then, "Jesus, Heidi."

"Well, if you'd hold still for five seconds! Get your hand off my thigh."

"Who died and put you two in charge?"

"You're about to find out, I swear to God."

Elizabeth buries her face in his chest and she's still there laughing, wearing no more than a blood-stained negligee, when the doctor arrives.

(Afterwards, Nathan banned heels more than two inches high, effective immediately.)
