Rock, I've got plenty of. Not much alternative, lots of classic...retro UK? example, please? Beatles? Pet Shop Boys? Define 'retro'.
Not much in the way of Jazz...well, I've got some Etta James, Billie Holliday, etc, if that's what you're looking for, but no Satchmo or Duke or anything. Gotta do something about that, actually... If you like Chicago Jazz Movement, I can get plenty of that - one of my best friends is Roscoe Mitchell's daughter. No blues, either, sadly.
Lemme know what you like, or what you have, and I'll do some yousendit tonight.
I LOVE Billie Holliday, you have no idea. :) I'll try some Chicago Jazz Movement as well.
Retro... hm...The Clash, stuff like that I suppose. Have you ever heard Rooney? They are a new group... but they have a much older sound, like retro UK, at least that's what I define them as. *shrugs*
I'll see what Pet Shop Boys I can dig up. Mike has one of their albums at least, but I don't know if it's on CD or not. What else? Erasure? EMF? New Order? That sort of thing? Have you heard the new group Scissor Sisters? You might like them. They have a kinda similar sound, and omg, Babydaddy looks like he walked off the cover of West End Girls, I swear...
Haven't heard Rooney, but if you wanna send me some, I'll gladly give them a try. The Clash...I might have a song or two. Probably Rock The Casbah, maybe one or two others. You like punk? I might have a little more around.
I'll see what Billie I have, and if you don't have it, I'll send that. No Etta? Or Ella? Have you heard of Eryka Badu? Mid-90s, and similar style, but with a more modern feel; her voice can match up with any of those ladies. Don't have any CJM at the moment, but I can get some.
And dude, your mom has good taste. :)
Anything you want from the 80s, lemme know. I'll have something at least close. :D
I'll try anything anything you want to send me. ;)
I have Rock the Cashbah, so anything else would be nice. How would you like me to send Rooney? I met them a few years ago in SF when they opened (I still can't believe it) for my friends' band. Rooney was/is bigger than they are, just Rooney opened for them. *shrugs* It was a great show though. The lead singer is Jason Schwartzman's little brother. I've never heard Jason's band but Robert's (Rooney) is really good. I've only seen them live twice though. *sigh* I think Dom introduced them at some LA radio concert. I surprised at that.
I'll take Etta or Ella as well, especially if you have "Baby it's cold outside". My choir, one of them anyway, sang that my junior year. :)
I know I have Roxanne - would you rather have the Police version, or the Moulin Rouge version? I got both. Don't think I have the other two, but I'll look. I've got a lot of music.
I'll see what I've got for Etta & Ella.
OK, you have good taste, then! lol I've got everything they ever did, so if you're missing something, lmk.
I'll dig around and see what I've got. And not a problem!
I have both soundtracks to Moulin Rouge so just the Police version. :)
Okie days.
My dad has all my mom's records but she has every Beatle album on vinyl. ON VINYL. I'm like "mom, you don't have to leave me anything when you die... except your Beatles' albums". *sigh*
