Occupy Melbourne..

So the dirty, filthy hippies who were stinking up Melbourne's City Square have finally been..err..evicted..

Apparently the Lord Mayor asked them to leave by 0900. They chose not to. And riot police were called in and kicked them out at 1400. Sounds pretty fair to me.
I wasn't in the city today, so I didn't witness the supposed "police brutality" - ( Read more... )

I had an articulate, thoughtful take on the whole Occupy movement, particularly the differences between the US occupations and those happening around the rest of the world. The longer I waited to write this, the less articulate and thoughtful I felt like being because, well, it all seems to be going to shit now. Which is a shame, really.

I was in New York City the Saturday before last as one of the thousands of protestors that, eventually, wound up in Times Square. It was an organized and peaceful day, I feel so blessed to have been a part of it. If that many people can get along with one another(yes, even the police)in one of the most hostile cities in the World, why is there so much chaos taking place at other Occupy locations? *shakes head* Most of the media is focusing their attention on the trouble that is happening. How can anyone take any of it seriously when all they see are a bunch of idiots acting like...idiots?

The collective voice that was screaming out for those of us whose words had fallen on deaf ears for so long is being drowned out, once again, by people that don't know what they are talking about. And that makes me really sad because spending time with those folks on that Saturday, well, it made me feel hopeful.
