Doorbell rang earlier. Opened curtain in dark, otherwise windowless room to see a young black woman standing outside with her head down. First gut reaction tells me it's my ex as I open the door with a uncomfortable "Hello." As she raised her head I felt both relief and disappointment when I realized how far off I was. It was merely some girl trying to sell house cleaner. I was polite, but I wanted nothing more than to slam that door.
