Heyo. First post in a while.
Not a lot going on. Still working as a barista, getting ready for rugby to start up. Becky and I joined a gym about a month ago, I've started part of a lifting routine and have been doing some running and such. Practice for the spring season starts next tuesday, so I've got one week to get ready. It's all conditioning practice, “You won't even see a ball” as my coach has promised. Going to be pretty intense, I'm rather dreading it to be honest.
So I went to the gym yesterday and worked on the treadmill for an hour. Averaged 5mph, which is to say I ran/walked 5 miles in an that hour. Started out pretty strong with longish 4-5 minute runs that ate up some ground, got to about 3 miles fairly quickly, but tired out a little and had some upper back pain, so I ended up walking more than I would have liked after about 20 minutes. Not nearly good enough. I'd like to not throw up at the 2-hour practice next week, which means at least an hour running every day until then, preferably two. I've lost about 5 pounds since we joined the gym, about 15 since i started rugby in the fall. Have to pick up a lot of quickness if I want to move to flanker or number eight, and I think I'd definitely last longer physically on the back row, so hopefully that'll improve along with endurance as I run more.
Becky has the car today, and we have choir in the evening until late, so I'll probably go run around the city instead of going to the gym, but we'll see. I have the day off work, so it shouldn't be too tough. Might run over to Marathon Sports to look for new running shoes, the ones I have have fallen apart in such a fashion that not even Shoe Goo is holding them together any longer.
That's about it over here. Expect more boring posts about working out so that I can track my performance more.
