Well, a pattern has seemingly emerged. I only update my livejournal from work.* I do, indeed, have a job again. I'm working for Tufts Health Plan, in the Claims Operations department. It's a large, nice office building about 15-20 minutes away from home, with ample employee parking. Currently I'm in training, which will last two weeks, then I'll just be workin'. The 80 hours of training is supposed to teach me how to properly process CMS Claims, which are the documents that medical facilities send to insurance companies when they want money.
It is largely data entry, but it isn't too bad. It sounds a bit boring, just the fact that it's as comlpex as it is keeps it fairly difficult and interesting. I'm rapidly filling a 3" notebook with example forms, powerpoint presentations, FAQs, practice sheets, et cetera ad infinitum. I have my own cubicle, which is weird but pleasant. It's nice to have my own work station, and I'm looking forward to decorating it with crap from despair.com. Especially the Meetings poster.
It really seems so far like a pretty good job. Once training is over I will be largely left alone, and simply expected to show up and process a lot of claims. It's "Nose up the grindstone" kind of work, but I can happily sit there and bang the keys while I listen to music and occasionally check my email for 8 hours. You gotta pay the bills, and "kinda boring" is a whole lot better than "kinda stressfull" in terms of job descriptions. I'd much rather be doing this than pleeeenty of things I could be doing, and it will be good to pad my resume with, especially if I stay here for a while.
In short, I have a new job and so far, I like it.
* Make that "Type at work, email to myself, and post from home" because I don't want the spies at work to know my LJ.
