One of the things I want to do in the Tibet-fic if I can ever get it going is to take a few bitchy side-sweeps at the sappy ignorant Orientalism you sometimes see in the West, and which is particularly annoying over Tibet, which is a sad, fascinating and complex place, but emphatically NOT sappy! And no sapppy Orientalism is complete without a dash of gratuitous Fengshui...

Heh - brilliant! I can see you've met some of the same people I have... or perhaps people are just credulous nitwits the world over.

And the only way to be shut of them is to have perfectly opposing front and back doors which are left always open, causing them constantly to be swept out - *swoosh!* - on the escaping flow of chi. One trades the constant drafts and runny noses for peace... ;D

I could deal with the colds - it's the incessant tinkling of the bloody windchimes they leave behind that drives me nuts.
