Who can tell me something about chickens?

It's such a long time now since I posted the first half of the words-and-chickens story I'm writing for the perposterice challenge that it's in danger of sinking without trace. But I'm determined to try and finish it before the New Big Project begins, in spite of all the work and whatnot I've had to do - and despite the fact that the deadline for said ( Read more... )

Pecks to the head I can definitely use. ANd egg-pecking.

And it's brilliant, isn't it, the way this request for info leads to truly abyssmal puns?

I'd LOVE to hear "In the Mood for Love" clucked by chickens. I'm a sucker for animal noises of all kinds - and clucking is a perennial favourite with me.

But I'll finish the peice without it. Soon (though not as soon as I like - I've just had a look at my diary... ouch. Whatever happened to "almost the end of term"?)

I could only hear the second clip, but even truncated, it's fantastic.

Wouldn't have missed this for the word! Many thanks!

That's just the sort of thing I need to know, and it's very helpful. Thank you.

I suppose I could adopt a peacock or peahen (do they both scream like that?) for a day or two. Or perhaps early mornings only - one of the reasons said neighbour drives me nuts is that I can hardly ever sleep in.

Did you need to know anything about sheep, pigs, horses, or cattle? Apples? Cornlands and hay-making? Wiltshire-cure bacon?

I almost wish I did now, so you could tell me about them. But my vision of Wizarding life isn't so exactly spelled out as yours. In any case, I don't believe the Weasleys are a farming family as such, so the need doesn't arise this time round. And the Lovegoods certainly aren't! I'm fairly up on the growing of veg in gardens because my father does that and I've helped - it's just the chickens...
