So, I'm closer officially 18: before I can consider myself a member of our voting-age population, I have to go to a decent concert, get registered to vote, donate blood, and get my nose pierced. Now I've been to a concert and have my nose pierced--same day, bitches!! So I've only got the two left. W00t!
Oh, yes. Carbon Leaf was FREAKING AWESOME! It was at the Moore Theatre in Seattle, and HOLY SHIT it was crazy--2500 people packed in there, the acoustics were amazing, and they are soooooo good live I wanted to just melt. That sounds a bit fangirly, right? Yeah, well screw it. It was three hours of solid CL, and our seats were good enough we could see everything. It was like being in a kaleidoscope of sound and light; the bass was thumping through our seats, the light show was fucking crazy, and the audience was completely into it. In "Let Your Troubles Roll By" and "Changeless" they did a call-and-response and had everyone in the theater singing along, and they turned dropped all of the microphones for one song. Twenty-five hundred people were absolutely silent, and we could hear every word they sang without any amplification.
The flip side to the great acoustics was that the people sitting in the back of the theatre could yell and be heard. There was one guy in the back row who kept catcalling down to the band--"I WANT YOU INSIDE ME!" "COME ON UP HERE AND GIVE ME SOME LOVE!" "LET ME SIGN YOUR CD!" and requesting Simon and Garfunkel's "the Boxer". "PLAY THE BOXER!" "COME ON, THE FUCKING BOXER!" through the whole concert. At the very end, CL came on again for an encore and played "the Boxer". Lol I think I'm in love with those guys now...And who knew tin whistles were so sexy? :D
