Book One, Chapter One: Letters

The first day and night has gone by in the Dollsyhouse. The house has proven to be strange, even dangerous. And the house is expanding. But with that comes a peculiar phenomenon, one that currently has no explanation. Is it intentional on the part of the builders of this house? Is it an accident? No one knows, but letters are appearing around the house. No one knows who they're from--and they're all in different types of handwriting--but as they are found they only provide more mysteries.

There are seven letters to be found as the sun rises on the house. What the characters do with these notes is up to them: they can keep them secret, show them to others, leave them alone, burn them... But perhaps it would be best to read them and try and discover just what they mean and who they're from.

In the Grand Room, hidden in the ashes of the fireplace, is a note on which is written "Home is where the heart is." Beneath these neatly scrawled words is a heart, drawn in dried blood.

Another note is hidden inside the doll which faces the mirror in the Doll Bathroom. Most of the note is faded and entirely unreadable; only the word "sorry" can be seen, written over and over again.

The letter in the Mother's Study is hidden in plain sight: it is placed amongst the papers on the desk. It reads "they took"; there is more after it, but ink has been spilled on it and the rest cannot be read.

Taped to the back of a painting haphazardly (it can be seen sticking out if one is attentive) in the East Gallery is a strange note, of which the words seem to have been stolen right out the middle of the letter:
"There's no way to

stand."

In the storeroom one of the canvases has also been used as a place to hide a letter. "we're all xxx here" has been written on a piece of paper and taped to it, although the scribbled out word between "all" and "here" is illegible.

Under the mattress in the Tin Room is a torn piece of paper with the words "No one knows".

And in the Empty Bedroom, hidden under the mattress and written on the floor itself, is what is clearly a warning: "stay out tonight".
