2008 - books, books, books!

Jan 05, 2008 12:33

I've decided I want to do this this year, on the chance that it might actually motivate me to finish a book more often! (Plus star ratings, because I cannot deny the opportunity to bust out my inner Roger Ebert. Except I'm going with five instead of four, because FIVE'S BETTER. Yup.)

Books I've Read In 2008 )

I was wandering around lj and saw you had a booklist, and I just wanted to say that WE HAVE READ THE SAME THINGS THIS YEAR. And by that I mean overloads of Jane Austen, Harry Potter, and Eva Ibbotson (I actually just finished A Countess Below Stairs). And I read Brideshead Revisited and just figured out there is a movie - WHAT.

that's all. fantastic list.

SWEET, book twins! Clearly we are geniuses in our reading material selection! :D Aaargh, for this past month or so, I have been slacking off in the reading department; it's nothing short of disgraceful. At the beginning of the year, I was all, 'I can so read 100 books this year, eaaasy!', and now I'm like, '... or not.'

At least now I'm back in school and having to read stuff for classes, so there will be those, at the very least!

(Hello there, Darcy Doesn't Sparkle icon! :D One of my bff's totally made that, and we both thought it was so cool that it actually caught on.)

Wow, so 2 things:
1. We have very similar taste in books, going off of this. *claps hands together in glee* HISTORICAL FICTION YAY! lol.

2. Since this summer, I've gone back and forth about making a book list, just if for nothing else, I could "track" what I've read during the year and all that. (English majors read for pleasure? hahaha.) So basically, can I steal your way of listing them and starring? Just so you don't see my LJ and are all, "Wow what a creeper!" hahaha.

Hurrah for historical fiction! Stuff that's set in present day just plain isn't as cool! (Unless it's Harry Potter.)

And, yeah, go for it! I've found the whole book list thing to be quite handy; it motivates me to finish stuff that I might have abandoned otherwise. Although I've still read depressingly few books this year! In January, I thought, 'Ehh, I'll read 100, easy!' And now I'm like, '... well, wow, I suck.'

The Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray

ARGGG, the heartbreak! Just reading the title made me almost burst into tears. How was it so amazing? I'm deeply in love with those books and she just outdid herself this time. Why ya gotta play to my Indian obsession, Libba?

<3 <3 <3

I need to read more as well.

Yessss, God, I know! I need to reread it again. Instead, I'm stuck reading all these lame books of literary renown for school, when really all I want to do is chillax with Gemma & Co.! The world, IT IS CRUEL.

And seriously, seriously, that book was perfect. I was so impressed. And emotionally slain.
