You. You. You have rendered me into this useless, blubbering child, with your pretty words and your brilliance and your ability to take what we've seen in "A Good Man Goes to War" and "Let's Kill Hitler" and fill in the blanks, and flesh out Mells, and River, and just...just...be able to get what Amy's and Rory's horrible and silent...fear, I guess, and worrying and frustration, but also their wonderful wonderful relationship and how they each prop the other up, and I'm not even making any sense, but I fucking love this. I do. The badass-ery of this family is tinged with such sadness and so much epic confusion, and you've managed to gather everything great about the Ponds, and, and, I just want to hug you and feed you cookies and look at you in awe and just have endless conversations about DWho with you.

And now I'm going to meander over to your other post and start writing down all my feelings about Amy being a mother.

Oh, my God, GIRL. This is glorious. This is exactly what I've needed, and what I think the show needs, to fill in those emotional gaps in the narrative - because I am with the plot twists, for the most part, but I've thought through a lot of this series that Moffat desperately needs to lighten up on his pacing to let the beats sink in. But, oh, here you've allowed room for it all to breathe, and the way you've framed it lets everything thread together wonderfully in my mind, and the voices are all so marvelously pitch-perfect but especially Amy's, and I am treasuring this fic, damn, this is just perfection. Sad, wonderful, hopeful perfection.

This is absolutely wonderful. It's so very Amy--sad but tough as nails, and never giving up or losing her sense of humor. I love how you highlight the similarities between her and River. River being the Ponds' daughter seemed really random, but you make it fit so well. You also have a very subtle touch that works very well--River being quietly touched to realize the tea's been for her all these years, or Amy dropping the peas and remembering losing Melody.

I am confused about the conversation Rory and River have about university, though. Are you saying they helped pay Mels' way in school? And why does Rory say how considerate they are, and ask about River's schooling?

Aw, thank you so very much! ♥ River being the Ponds' daughter seemed really random, but you make it fit so well. The more I wrote, the more I got this feeling as well! I think there are a lot of really interesting parallels between Amy and River and the effect the Doctor's had on their lives, & I'd love to see that examined on the show. And just, basically, a whole bunch of Amy and River scenes. :D

I am confused about the conversation Rory and River have about university, though. Are you saying they helped pay Mels' way in school? And why does Rory say how considerate they are, and ask about River's schooling?HEE, I wrote this in such a state of wee-hours-of-the-morning creative delirium that it totally makes sense that some bits of it ... don't. Basically, that was just dorky humor: Rory sort of awkwardly feeling like they need to impress/reassure their new ADULT DAUGHTER with how qualified they are to be parents even though she's got a few decades on them (they're -- considerate about tea, and therefore totally fit to raise other ( ... )

Aw, that's so cute, then! Rory is always so awkward, but he really just wants everyone to be all right, and he has such a good heart that you can't help but love him. :)

Ohhhh, my heart in my throat. This is PERFECT (and as an aside, thank you for linking from Tumblr- this way I remember that LJ exists more than once in a blue moon!). I've been feeling for Amy and how bizarre it must be, everything that's happened to her, and now she seems just like. . . a sad shadow of herself on the show. But this fills in all the bits that I wish the show would- just Amy and Rory, trying to puzzle out this bizarre twisted bit of time, trying to fill it out again.

Love everything about this- characterization is brilliant, especially Amy and Rory's (I like Rory loads better in this fic than I do on the show, but this is how Rory Should Be all of the time).

YAY NITA FIC!
