It's funny to see how friends react to break-ups. My male and male-minded female friends seem to universally be of the camps, "The best way to get over somebody is to get under somebody!" or "Well, thats too bad, I liked him. I'm really sorry it didn't work out."

Female friends seem to be of the camp, "That jerk! What a creep! You deserve so much better!" Women are much quicker to vilify and point out the thousands of (sometimes painfully valid) reasons you shouldn't have gone out with him in the first place or you should have broken up with him ages ago.

Edit: I tend to start out in the female camp until my general good nature (and man-mind) kicks in...

I'm glad that, in my complete emotional break down, I chose to take Alex up on her offer to stay with her in Mountain View. She showed me a different side of South Bay that, if I had access to it a year and a half ago, might have made a lot of things in my life better. It's a pity I wasn't up for autocrossing with her on Saturday.

I'm looking forward to a life with less uncertainty on the emotional front, at least.
