27 weeks and counting...

Still alive! today marks 27 weeks and I am doing fairly well. Not too much happening but felt the need to post. Lets see... spent a good portion of a week cleaning up my mom and dad's house, moving furniture, and removing general crap and clutter and dust from the last 11 years, that was fun, not. Mostly we are trying to get the house ready for the twins, and although everyone is excited for their arrival it doesn't really seem like my family is on board of making the house safe for them. Jeff and I have been busting our butts, my parents haven't really thanked me per se, as much as eagerly await the moment they can spot something I threw out and harass me about it. ::sigh::

We did all of this while they were a way on a trip to georgia. I figured it was the best way to get it done with out anyone looming and worrying about the process. Had a fairly uneventful Easter after they got back. My dad had to work this year, so my mom graciously volunteered me to cook the meal. I didn't mind so much as I was a little miffed that it was decidedly so, and that my mom didn't pay for any of it. Luckily she owed us $20 from the week she was gone for buying pet foods for the week, and my grandma kicked in so not too much of it came out of pocket in the end. I ended up making a menu I found online and then made my own. We ate a pork loin roast, scalloped potatoes, orzo salad, roasted veggies, drop biscuits and for dessert a carrot cake as well as a cobbler. I cooked most of it alone, with a few visits from Jeffrey every now and again, but the majority of it was complete in 3 hrs. needless to say I was pooped after cooking and cleaning for the meal.

That friday before the big holiday we went to a company called my first peekaboo and got to see the twins! I have had lots of ultrasounds at this point (many more than my single baby mom friends)but this company does them in 4D! it was a pretty neat experience. My whole family came, plus a few of my friends, we had like 9 people in the mix watching them on a HUGE screen. the technition was really nice and took a lot of extra time with us! the Boy baby was a naturally a little show boat and proudly paraded his boy bits every moment he got, whilst the girl was shy again! we got some shots of both but all of the really detailed face shots are of the boy. The lady liked doing twins so much she offered me a second appointment for free! she said she didn't feel she got enough time and she would even give me a second DVD recording free since my dad bought a video of the first session! not bad considering only $59 was out of pocket! It was really great to have my family there and fall in love with them before they were even born.

So far we are thinking the kids will look a lot like me. The Ethnic blood is strong :) hopefully we will get some more face shots now that they will be a little older in this next session.

In health news I took the glucose test and as I figured, it came back higher than I wanted. i had to take a 3 hr blood test which was terrible and not so bad at the same time. they gave me this bottle of sugar water that tasted like otter pop lime syrup and took my blood once an hour. I needed to pass 3 out of the four blood readings and I only passed 2. So now I have to visit with a nutritionist at a place called sweet success. I have gestational diabetes, which sounds a lot scarier than I think it needs to be. I was VERY upset about this for like 3 days and started crying whenever I tried to explain it to people. mostly (after some reading) I realized I just needed to watch the carb loading and excessive amounts of fruit I was eating. It is so silly because all of the things I deliberatively changed once I was pregnant was probably what put me over the edge! I never ate so much fruit, or yogurt, and god knows I rarely drank Orange juice, let alone glass fulls with meals! Also when I go through tired weeks I would resort to fast easy meals read:pasta or rice based and I think it pushed my already sugar sensitive body beyond normal.

I meet with the counselor on the 4th so we will see what else I need to do to keep this under control. In the mean time Jeff and I have made some more meal changes and I already feel a lot better! I even taught dance class twice this week which I had been too tired to do in the past few weeks, hopefully this activity boost will continue in the weeks to come! Only 13 weeks to go!

In completely unrelated new went to the free showing of the Civic Theater's new show. It was called and evening with David Ives. I must say, I am NOT a fan of David Ives, or his writing. To be fair the only reason I went was because josh was in 2 of the scenes, and he was by far one of the best performers of the night. Hopefully this production will catch it's wind in the run, and take off. I'm not really sure how the general public will take these pieces in. To be fair this was not the worst thing I've seen at this theater, believe me it is leagues better than Pippin fro christ sakes, but as a director I would have pushed most of these scenes further. maybe I'm just not easily satisfied... in 2 weeks (mon) we will vote on a new season, and I will see if I am directing my own piece in the 2012 season or not. I could honestly go either way right now...
