washing a wig
Well, anyone who owns a Lan-Ake know that their stock wig leaves something to be desired. It's pretty stiff and the ends are super prone to frizzies. I was thinking of re-wigging mine, but I really love the color and length of her stock wig... So, I decided to try soaking it with conditioner yesterday in hopes that it would soften things up (and get rid of those darned frizzies). No pictures on this entry... my digital camera needs new batteries and instead of buying some last night, I bought Super Princess Peach and Brain Age for the DS... I need to get my priorities in order. >_____<
I rinsed her hair in lukewarm water (dunno if this would help or not), then I massaged the conditioner into her hair and let it set for 3 hours. While the conditioner was sittting, I combed through her hair several times to ensure that it wouldn't dry funky, and sprayed in some leave-in-conditioner. Then I rinsed it all back out with cool water and combed her hair back straight. I stood her in front of my little bedside fan so her hair would dry quicker (I was afraid if I let it go wet for too long the water might get into her head). After about an an hour and one half, she was all dry.
Her hair is a little less coarse at the bottoms, but the frizzies are still pretty much the same. There is a noticable difference in how shiny her hair is now though! And, if nothing else, she smells like strawberries (O_o)
Maybe I did something wrong? Does it really matter what temperature the water is when you go to rinse? Or maybe I didn't leave it in long enough...
I'm thinking of trying some fabric softener later on today, although I'm not really keen on the idea of Shouri smelling like laundry. But, if it helps me to restore her stock wig to it's former glory (neh, it's never really had glory, it's always been straw-ish), then I'm willing to try anything. I just want to soften it up a little bit.
