ever since i had the flu (which i've now deduced that i inadvertantly got from either Mercedes or Joe Cleary), i've been having problems with my inner ear. i took some antihistamine stuff, and i think that was the culprit. for a long while after that, my left ear felt very pressurized, like just that ear was in an airplane 20,000 feet in the sky. the other day, it suddenly popped, and it felt nearly as good as an orgasm. however, now its doing weird shit, like repressurizing and then depressurizing. everytime i swallow, it does it. it sounds like theres water in my ear, but i know there isn't any. its really annoying, and it actually faintly hurts.

goddamn, EVERYTIME i swallow! its an impulsive action, too.

however, i went online and looked for some info on what might be causing this.

"The space inside of the eardrum is usually at the same pressure as the outside. This is facilitated by a tube (Eustachian tube), one end of which opens into the space of the 'inner ear' and the other end opens into the rear part of your throat. But, that end of the tube is normally lightly squeezed closed. Each time you swallow or yawn it opens just enough to admit air to the inner ear, thereby equalizing the pressure with the outside. Your ear drum then feels comfortable."

so my un-professional opinion is that i have Eustachian Tube Dysfunction. either that, or my eustachian tube might possibly be clogged up with mucus. earlier, to equalize the pressure in my ear, i held my nose and blew, which is apparently a very unwise thing to do. i bet doing that forced mucus into my inner ear. so, i might get an ear infection.

oh joy........
