My thoughts drift back to you throughout the day
I can't shake these feelings I hold inside
I think back on the day I held your hand
I remember when you stood by my side

Those days seem so far away
as the tears fall from my eyes
our relationship has became a masquerade
and I'm tired of the foolish disguise

I'm so afraid to leave
but, I can't find any reason to stay
True happiness is waiting for us
whenever we finally decide to walk away

I'll never know the meaning of joy
if I refuse to spread my wings
it's time for me to fly
and rid myself of these things

I know it won't be easy
and Lord knows I'll shed some tears
there has to be more beyond the horizon
once you move past your fears

You've held me back long enough
and it's not that I don't care
I'll always love a part of you
we were once the perfect pair

Once upon a time you loved me
that I will never doubt
but your constant lies and blame
have long ago blown that candle out
