Epilogue: I’m Suddenly Standing at the Beginning with You
Reid knew that his work ethic, much like his mouth, didn’t know when to let up. In addition to becoming the new Chief of Staff and heading his neurology wing, he went back to school to specialize in nephrology (which was almost mean, being he was already so far above the other doctors). Why? Because one day he would be old and tired, and would be forced to throw in the towel. He’d be a pain in the ass to Old Luke, which Old Luke wouldn’t deserve, because he’d be tired, too. Old Luke would have plenty of other people to spend time with when he finished his work - his family, his friends. Old Reid would have Old Luke. If Old Reid didn’t want Old Luke to die before he did, then not-so-old Reid figured it was only logical to use his genius in a way that could combine his two passions: medicine and Luke.
