Iconfic the First (aka I ought to be ashamed of myself)

Apr 20, 2007 23:55

As promised, if you choose an icon of mine, I shall do my best to write a fic inspired by it. First one up is for dbassassin. Icon (and title) taken from the video to The Concretes' song Warm Night, which you can see here if you like, because a)I think it's great fun and b)I listened to it nonstop whilst writing this.

Am very much afraid that this verges on being the feline version of scut!fic, and that I should be extremely ashamed of myself. Apologies all round, but I did say I meant to write without fretting too much, and sometimes you just can't argue with the prompt...

The world was becoming warmer. She rubbed herself up against the chair leg, the fuzzy golden glow around it shivering along her back and up her tail. Then, unable to resist any longer, she pounced upon the source of the delicious scent, pulled it towards her as she lowered herself to the floor, and began to maul it gently. Her mouth began to water. She brought up her back legs to thud against the fabric, and the scent increased, sweet and heady.

Lucifer, Apollyon Pringle’s black tom, approached her through a meadow of long grass and butterflies, as she lay basking in the sun. He dropped his head to lick her between the ears and she purred lazily, but when the warm tickle of his tongue moved further down her neck towards her shoulders she got up and sprang a short distance away. Not yet, she told him, half-closing her eyes; and when he followed her she moved again, long and low, pretending to chase a butterfly, but not so far ahead that he wouldn’t be able to catch her in a moment, looking back every so often to make sure he was just behind her…

The shrilling of a bell, at first faint and far off, then more and more insistent….

Minerva, blushing furiously, smoothed down her robes, straightened her glasses, picked up the hairpins that lay scattered about upon the floor and began to twist the hair falling about her shoulders back up into its tight bun.

It wasn’t fair of Albus, it really wasn’t, to hide catnip in her office before a staff meeting, just because they were due to discuss something on which she disagreed with him.

He’d just have to look out when his next order from Honeydukes arrived, that was all.
