When Tablo finds out that he has to go on some stupid television show where people will be stupid and he will have to be stupid with them (and he doesn’t actually have to go, because no one is forcing him, and actually he thinks it could be quite fun but that is besides the point and he isn’t going to admit it to anyone, especially not his band-members who think the entire thing is hilarious, although he doesn’t see them promoting the music, the fuckers), the first thing he does is ring the Super Junior dorm, because no one knows how to be stupid on television like Super Junior, right?
“Wow, thanks,” says Heechul. Tablo thinks that if Heechul’s voice was a person in its own right, it would be that sarcastic teacher at school that you always wanted the respect and admiration of, but who didn’t even know your name. “I don’t know why I even know you.” He promptly passes the telephone onto someone else.
“Hyungnim?”
Ah. Ah. It’s Eunhyuk. Tablo likes Eunhyuk, really he does (in ways that probably aren’t normal), but sometimes the way that Eunhyuk tries so hard to please him is a little bit freaky and makes Tablo uncomfortable (and it really doesn’t help that certain band-mates like to bring it up at every opportunity). He says it makes him uncomfortable because he thinks that Eunhyuk might have a crush on him (and his mind always makes a strange ‘whoop’ing noise at that, which makes him think that he should probably get committed for society’s benefit), but really it makes him uncomfortable because he can see that Eunhyuk looks up to him and that just makes his mind flail at him, screaming OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD, MUST ACT COOL, MUST ACT - AH FUCK, NOW WHY DID YOU DO THAT, YOU MORON?, and you know, after actually meeting with Eeteuk, sometimes he has to dig out his university diploma just to reassure himself that he actually is a clever human being, and that killing himself from sheer embarrassment would not be a good idea. (Tablo curses Heechul for putting Eunhyuk on the phone, but only on the inside because Heechul might hear if he does it on the outside, and Mithra says the fingernails hurt).
“I heard you’re going on Star Golden Bell, hyungnim. So am I!”
Oh, fuck. Now he’s going to make a fool of himself on national television through no choice of his own, and honestly, he would like to have a choice in the matter. If he’s going to do something that might possibly ruin the reputation of his music/his band/himself generally, he’d like to actually choose what stupid thing he did.
But no, he can see it now - he’s going to see Eunhyuk and try to act cool and then he’s going to fall down the stairs and break something that is probably quite important, like, he doesn’t know, his back or something, or - he’s going to make terrible jokes throughout the entire thing or - fuck, what if he ends up confessing? He isn’t too sure how that situation would come about, but his mind has started to run away with him and he knows that he will be unable to stop it - it’s the curse of being a creative intellectual.
“Do you want to meet up and practise the English for the game? I need some help.”
Oh good god, I love you in English, because he’ll reckon that no one can understand him.
Fuck. Is it too late to ring his manager and back out?
