A/N: Chapter 6 of Phantasm.

A gentle breeze was swirling through the leaves of the trees as a young brunette sat on the ground, her back pressed against the wall of a well house. The heat was scorching which had forced her to take a rest in the cooling shadows. She gently wiped her damped forehead with the back of her hand before letting out a sigh.

The wood was cracking beneath her weight, which attracted her attention. She tilted her head to the side sizing up the building behind her. As far as she could remember, it had always been there. The desire to both satisfy her curiosity and skip work caused her to rise to her feet, determined to peek inside.

She slid the door open slowly, almost afraid to break it before setting foot inside. Despite the bright sun shining outside, the well house was pitch black due to the lack of windows. All that this little building was protecting was a small, broken well. Why did they still keep it?

Kagome bent forward, attempting to inspect the well from closer. At that precise moment, a purple glow began to surround the old wooden well, causing Kagome to back away in fear. As she walked backwards, a powerful surge of light coming from the well, breaking through the barrier, sent her flat on her rear.

She winced at the brightness, unable to see what was happening in front of her very eyes. All she could sense was a force pulling her in. She dug her nails in to the floor, but it was of no help. Soon enough, the power was pulling her in and before she was able to scream, a deep blue liquid like substance quickly surrounded her.

A feeling of droning took over and she panicked, moving her limbs around, trying to reach the surface. Seconds ticked away before she finally surfaced, only to find herself dry and… at the bottom of the well.

Kagome blinked a few times, more confused than ever, before slowing standing up. She observed her surrounding, rapidly noticing vines. Wait. Vines? Those weren’t there before… A bit puzzled, she grabbed on to one and pulled herself up. It wasn’t until she was halfway up that she noticed the bright blue sky.

She was definitely not home anymore.

Exhausted, she dragged herself out of the wall, only to fall upon the grass.

“You have returned.”
