Sitting before her companions, Kagome shifted uncomfortably. Sighing, she cut her eyes across the clearing… again. Laying back comfortably, sitting as if he hadn’t a care in the world. His body leaning against the blasted tree, his one hand draped across his leg as he stared blankly at the fire, his expression blank, except for a bit of contempt, maybe.
Her fingers twitched on her lap, her only give away. She stared at him, his perfect hair swaying in the breeze. She forced her eyes away from his form, forced herself to smile at her half of the group, to sooth Inuyasha’s frayed nerves.
She smiled sadly as Inuyasha took Kikyo’s hand in his and left the clearing, without so much as a gruff “Keh” in parting. She continued to follow his retreating form with her eyes, unwilling to allow herself to become mad at him. Instead, she stood and moved toward Sesshomaru.
Staring at him, she looked deeply into his eyes, into his very soul. Bottom lip clenched between her teeth, she raised her hand, shaking, and ran her fingers through his hair before scampering back to her group.
All he could do was stare at her back, confused
