“Whatcha' lookin' at?”
Gramps jumped at the sound of Souta's voice in his ear.
“Oh, hello dear. Soccer practice over all ready?”
Souta nodded at his mother, edging closer to the sink. Instead of dirty dishes it was full of water and an image of his sister floated on it's surface.
Gramps held his breath wondering what Souta would see. If Souta had any ability he would push harder for him to be trained.
Souta pointed.
“Hey, mom, what's Kagome doing in the sink?”
Gramps closed his eyes which watered in joy. He raised a clenched fist to the heavens. Finally! Another Higurashi monk!
“We are just making sure Kagome returns safely.”
“Big brother Inuyasha doesn't look very happy.”
The three of them leaned in closer to see what was going on.
Kagome had walked hesitantly up to Sesshomaru, Inuyasha scowling at her back.
“You waited for me?”
Sesshomaru did not answer and Kagome giggled softly realizing his presence alone was answer enough.
Mirkou coughed lightly getting Kagome's attention and Sesshomaru's ire. The monk took a nervous step back.
“Oh, I do hope Sesshomaru doesn't harm him.”
Souta looked up shaking his head at his mother.
Gramps squinted at Kagome's back pack on the ground. There was a small wooden object sticking out of a side pocket.
“Where did Kagome get that flute?”
Souta smiled at him.
“I found it in the storehouse. I thought Kagome could play something for friends.”
Gramps slapped his forehead in dismay.
“That is the authentic flute from the Soul Piper demon! It's been handed down though out the generations into our safekeeping!”
“Oh,” Souta shrugged, “I guess she hadn't ought to play it then huh?”
Maybe Souta wasn't monk material after all.
