 Practice Makes Perfect
The magnolia stretched and shook his branches, sending stray leaves spiraling downwards. Sesshoumaru leapt, slicing them with his claws, and the tree-youkai chuckled. “Following in your father’s footsteps, little warrior?”

“I am,” Sesshoumaru proudly answered, earnestly adding, “But... I am not strong enough yet.”

She smiled at his ill-concealed frustration. One day, you’ll lend your strength when it’s needed most. Wanting to reassure him, she said, “You’ll be perfect.”

“Such conviction,” remarked Bokuseno.

“Higurashi knows things,” Sesshoumaru boasted.

“She knows which direction to stroke a dog.”

“It’s not flattery,” Kagome sharply protested.

“What do you call it, young one?”

“...Faith.”
